eBay and Amazon are very much the same while also being very different. This is true for both sellers and buyers.

So, what's your view on these two giants when it comes to buying? Which do you trust more and why? What is the biggest benefit that each offers to you when you're shopping at their site?

    Hello,

    Amazon. It's really user friendly.

    Amazon again: it's more professional.

I always find what I want on Amazon. Always. Even if it's a book you can't find, normally. And there are the reviews which are interesting.

I agree with you when it comes to trust with Amazon. I'm interested in knowing what it is that gives people that sense of trust when it comes to purchasing items.

Do you think that it may be because people find it easier to become a seller on eBay than Amazon? Or is it the fact that eBay steers people to using PayPal which has given us so many horror stories over the years?

Both are great platforms for selling and shopping.

I can easily return things to Amazon, if not purchased from the marketplace, and always get my money back if I am not happy with my purchase. I think Ebay still has a slight stigma of being full of scammers who run with your money. Not to mention, I can call Amazon and get pretty good customer service on the phone. I can't always do that with every seller on Ebay. Plenty of times I have emailed the seller which was their only way of contacting them, and my questions went unanswered. Amazon feels like I am making a purchase from a business like going to Best Buy. I have more confidence in them. I've had a few bad experiences on Ebay that make me always second guess buying from there.

That pretty much hits the nail on the head Boozie :) It's true that a stigma still haunts eBay when it comes to being ripped off or having a complaint dragged out waiting for the seller to respond to a message etc.

I think that being able to pick up the phone to speak with customer services makes all the difference. What's the situation currently like if you need to get your money back on eBay and you want to call someone?

I feel that there is more care needed when buying something from eBay and you need to 'vet' each seller. eBay has worked hard over the years to make positive steps to improve the situation but there's still some way to go yet.
