Lets say that you have a budget of $10,000 for a new SEO site, the keyword is harder than average.

Would you build 100-150 PBNs with weaker power - like 30 to 70 RDs TF 15+

    Or

Would you build 10 PBNs with bigger power like - 500 to 1,000 RDs TF 20+

I was thinking about this, scratching my head.

On the first option it's much easier to diversify anchor text since the links are more, but managing hosting and content for 100+ PBNs is not easy. The more PBNs the bigger the footprint as well.

And for the second option managing is easier, content is less overall and with less PBNs I can focus on making the PBNs as natural as possible to avoid footprints, taking the time to make each PBN as unique as possible. But then the overall links of the site will be very low, not sure if that is a ranking factor even tough the PBNs will be very powerful.

    What are your thoughts?

Would recommend going for quality over quantity.

In terms of link diversity for that strategy, you can use your strong PBN sites to send links to your money site using partial and exact match keywords. Then use some other lower quality links (decent blog comments, a few profile links, some directory submissions, press releases, social media shares, etc) for general link and anchor text diversity.

You can also make a number of top-quality PBNs for your Tier 1. Then make some lower-quality PBNs for Tier 2 and link those to your Tier 1 top-quality PBNs.

Quality over quantity every time, plus as you say it's easier to manage 10 or 20 sites than 100+

I would also recommend one really great link rather than hundred's of less powerful links. Gaining a link from a website with authority or trust will not only increase the amount of exposure of the content or website linked, it will also add a powerful boost to the authority of the linked site.

Less number of counts can match with quality links for getting effective results

    150 (PBN) * 70 (RD) = 10500
    10 (PBN) * 1000 (RD) = 10000

As you can see the power of you PBN will be almost the same, but in the first case you will face more recurring costs over the years

Offpage SEO is more complicated than that. Definitely is more cost effective to have a smaller number of good sites, though.

Quantitatively, the PBN will be significantly stronger, but also significantly more expensive, considering registration, hosting and content. Plus harder to manage. Decision is up to you.

Referring domains also matter depending upon your niche.

Unless you're building it to sell links as a paid network on go with the better domains.

Quality is far and away the most important. We added 10 decent niche backlinks got little to no motion, we got a legit bump from local news went up 10% on Ahrefs in a month ... sure the sharing also helps.

PBN, backlink wheels, comment bots, etc etc are dying and will continue to die if it does not hit you today it is going to destroy your SERPS in the future .... Google wants to serve relevant content not manipulated content or at least content you have to work really hard to create and promote.

Ehh, stronger to rank faster and much better but for fewer terms, weaker to spread anchor texts and cover more potential keywords.

Quality is important but don't underestimate the value of quantity either. Me personally, not taking into account expenses, I would think I would rank better with 100 TF 15 links than with 30 - 40 links of 20 TF.

Why don't you find a middle ground between the two? Seems like the best option IMO.

OP, it actually depends on how much time and resources you can commit. As well as the risk you are willing to take. You have to weigh on that. But you can go with both options actually.

As others have said I would go with building fewer but stronger PBNs. Easier to manage
