Is it possible to rank a one-pager? A site with a simple ~500w article on?

Should the articles in my tier 1/2 all be based on my money keyword?

Do I keep the same anchor texts throughout the whole pyramid?

Yes it's possible to rank a one page site as long as it is optimized correctly and has generally low competition. Your tier 1/2 keywords should be broad focusing on your main keyword. Focusing on only 1 keyword will get you slapped by Google very quickly. As a rule of thumb, try to rank for around 10 keywords so you can pull in traffic from all directions of the search engines. This should also answer your last question. Link diversity is the key.

Its depends on how many competitors you have :)
With pyramid, you should use diversity keywords as much as possible.
For me, 80% anchor text is general keywords

You certainly can. If I'm doing a site like that I use WordAI and just put plenty of spun posts on a separate blog part of the site, usually I put about 5 in the beginning then add 3-4 per week for the future of the blog. The amount of content on your site really does matter, even if you're not trying to rank those posts or if they never get seen by your visitors.

I have plenty of long-term (1year+ so far) $xxx per day adsense sites using this model.

I also use this model for churn and burn sites where my primary backlink source is SAPE.

1 Page websites were good back in 2010.
Nowadays you need more than one page to be on top. Even SEO providers stopped making one page Web 2.0s as it doesn't hold good for long term.
Also, crawlers will love to visit your website if it is updated regularly. Search engines will have more indexed pages as well.

Target more keywords. I would suggest target 10 - 20 keywords. It will really keep you out of Google Penalty. Diversity is the Key.
