It is actually more work than you would think; they have to go through the products/services to make sure that what is being offered is what the buyer gets whether they need it or not.

It may look like they are banking from the review process but the opposite is actually the truth; it takes time and energy doing the proper due diligence on many things.

Making sure that the sellers are giving what they are advertising is a job in and unto itself.

I just got the keys, already had too many gfs that week from other reviews. I'm only human after all (and getting old).

Delegate some of your work to us... If it's not allowed, when are you planning to retire Jazz? :p

Mods NEED some type of incentive to actually enjoy their work so I see it as a good thing.

It's actually a bit weird when you look at the hierarchy of things on here or any forum for that matter. Like there's Diamond Damien at the top, the owner / admin.... who makes most the money (from BHW). But ironically, I don't see him as the real owner of this forum. I see the mods as the people who really own this place. They're the ones who keep the forum popping. Who keep members signing up. Keep this place safe and sane. Keep everything orderly and as professional as possible.

When I think about DD.... I have visions of a man sitting in a gold plated bathtub all day counting his benjamins and slapping a whip.

And no, I'm not actually that stupid. I do realize admins play a very important role and do a lot of work behind the scenes (I think?). I'm just not very clear what they do cause I rarely... umm, see them doing anything. I mean I know they do something. Right? Theres gotta be at least 1 thing they do every day lol. Let me just shut up. I'm being really stupid right now.

Think about it this way. The man who sold you the car is not the one who built it.

Not really, no. I don't know any staff member with a 50-ft yacht, but I don't know any one being poor either. Most mods are members who have spent tons of time in this place, benefited a lot from the community and care to contribute back by helping run the place smoothly. We are not kids who need a handout or a big e-penis.

Well someone has to make sure the stuff isn't garbage and is on the up and up. I wish they would do the same thing in the dropshipping/wholesale section. There wouldn't be so much fraud going on there if the person who started the thread first shipped the product to the mod before being allowed to post there. Right now there is someone in that section selling "sterling silver" jewelry that is not sterling silver.

You are right Jazz. "Should" would have been a much more appropriate word. Mods SHOULD have some type of incentive to keep them passionate and professional towards their jobs.

I believe in honor and good will but humans are human afterall. And there are clear reasons why we pay cops.... give them stars, medals, free meals, free drinks, free food, overtime for testifying and well... kiss their ass in general. The last thing people want or need are other people in positions of high authority feeling thankless, going rogue or abusing their power.

You say you like to give back to the community and help run the place smoothly. That is awesome. I applaud you for that. Could never do it myself.

I'm merely asserting that people, generally speaking... don't seek out positions of high authority due to mere altruism. There's a fair amount of research behind this. Like CEO's being the #1 most psychopathic profession in the world, lawyers #2 and cops #5. Of course, cops and forums mods are 2 peas in a different pod. But there is that control factor of which tends to manufacture perks. Perks that we shouldn't try to hide or be ashamed of.

I agree, I just want to point out that incentives are not only future based, but past based as well - like thankfulness. I am thankful for what I have learned & for the fun that I have had here. And I consider it a privilege and pride to be able to give something back and have an active part in the well being of the community.

Many of my fellow staff members (myself included) never sought
out our positions. We were offered our positions by an admin.

In regards to perks, I occasionally get a PM from a member who
wants to give me a free copy of his software or a sample of his service.
I always thank them for their generous offer and then politely decline.
Why? . . . Because I will not put myself in a position where I might
ever be accused of accepting "favors" (bribes).

However, when a mod is reviewing a product or service, it is
mandatory that he be given the top level package, so that
he can try it out to verify the validity of it.

If I'm going to be honest, I wouldn't touch any "services" on BHW with a 5-meter pole, but when I was buying services on here I'd have really appreciated if mods had reviewed all tiers of a service, not just the "top" tier.

I agree with BassTracker, I am sure it's a lot more work than you expect. And I believe it's very important that the mods review the services. I haven't seen that before and it is extremely valuable to prevent/significantly reduce the numbers of scams. Ideally it would be great if they reviewed all levels; however, that's probably not feasible since it would create a lot more work. I am fine with the top service only. It's the seller's best foot forward and at least we get a view into the service and seller.

It's a lot of work and for me at least, everything goes back into Ungagged or something for DD. Things like likes/followers go on test accounts or BHW related stuff, so no real gain. Besides most drop anyway, any not used are banked for when they are needed. No yachts with an apricot logo on over here and I'm not diving into a mountain of coins like Scrooge McDuck either.

I get offered free services all the time too, but as Wiz said, it can sometimes be more hassle than It's worth, as it may be free financially, but thats about it.

It is very hard to mods handle all these stuffs. Trust me I know. I talk with most of the mods regularly regarding my services. They are always busy. Imagine the number of PMs they get daily. And I think they reply to almost every pm.

So, least they could get is a free package now and then. Dont forget most of the time service being offered won't suit their needs.
