Very cool. Thanks for the link!

I think one thing that everyone here at BHW should keep in mind is that you should not use TrueView ads for any vids that you're sending botted views to....for two reasons:

    1) Depending on the service you're using, you're not likely to get any $$ out of it. For example, if you're using the SYV bot, the mobile views occur so quickly that the hit will barely even register (I'm speculating on the SFV bot - and this is according to my understanding of how it works - I'll ask theknown to chime in on this).

On the other hand, a service that Vagex that allows you to set the amount of time that a viewer must watch the vid to claim their credits may be beneficial? I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. Bottom line, these bots won't know to click "skip ad" and move on to your video. So, you'll have to just set the length of your requested view far beyond the view for the ad + the view for your video length in order to register the view.

    2) The second reason relates to the final thought above. If you use botted views for your vids, you're not likely to actually score views if you have enabled the TrueView feature. The view from the bot will be spent watching the ad - and not your video. So, keep this in mind before you begin bitching that "xyz service sucks! I didn't get my views!"

So...just a few things to keep in mind.

SYV uses RTSP which they haven't monetized (Just checked on a bunch of monetized videos on my phone which uses RTSP) this is for mobile phones that watch the video by HTML5 etc not by RTSP.

I'm not really sure why they have posted this just now, because I've seen ad's before mobile videos when doing testing before :S

Just to say, I thought the view for a video would count if you load the page? So whether an ad appears or not. will it not still count as a view?

No, it will only count as a view if it has been watched for a certain period of time. Not entirely sure if anyone has ever worked out an exact science to how YT determines this (what the magic number is) but the general consensus is generally at least half of the length of your vid. So, if it's a 60 sec vid, they must watch at least 30 secs of your vid for the view to count. Unless....

RTSP views are a different story as Willo indicates above. Those are counted within milliseconds, I believe (thus, why SYV works so quickly).

So, those are the only present exception. However, as I mentioned previously - you'd be best to not activate TrueView on these vids if you're botting them this way as you won't credit for the ad having been shown AND you won't get your view. But, once again, as Willo indicated - ads aren't being shown on vids via RTSP anyway so my point as it relates to that is moot.

Hope that's not TOO confusing. :0

Well I can tell you now, you dont need to watch half of the video length for a view to count...
