.mobi domains

I am planning to get some good names with .mobi domains. DO you think its worth to buy .mobi domains for future? Is it good investment for the future?

Will you use the domain for mobile related topics?
If so, it is useful.

I've been watching several debates on this and so far the .mobi "revolution" seems to be a bust. Looks like many squatters, but only a few successfully building & profiting from .mobi. I saw a couple of new software programs out recently to help convert regular (even cms, Joomla) sites to proper format, but I haven't seen any reviews of them yet.

I'm guilty myself. I bought the .mobi for a few of my wh sites, but still haven't integrated them. They're just collecting dust.

No, it is not worth it. There was a great hype around it, but you can well make a mobile site on a .com or a .net or a .whatever.

.mobi is not well known by non techie people, so it will not give you any advantage from this POV.

Moreover that, it does not pass the phone test. When you say xyz.mobi ... people think it is moby ...

Is running a normal site on a .mobi domain at a disadvantage for SEO?
There are some amazing domain names available.
I might give it a shot no matter what the answer is, unless someone posts 100% non-debatable proof that it would be a waste of time.

as far as i am aware you would be breaking the terms of use by running a regular sized website on a .mobi domain

its also very rare to see .mobi sites listed in the serps... they are there but they are proper dot mobi scaled down sites...
