Mixing in RSS Feed content with Fresh/Organic Written content (Is this ok?)

Wondering what you think about filling up a beginning blog with RSS feed content (using canonical tags to not steal seo juice) and also just to keep content on my site fresh (it's a crypto site and I can't sit around all the time posting the latest news)

Any idea if this could hurt my chances to build a successful site from scratch? I'm planning on doing the RSS feeds concurrently while I pump out real content and I'll promote the real content and just let the RSS feed stuff fill out the site and keep it fresh.
