So waaaay back in 1976.....I ran my own screen printing shop in the UK....printing posters...stickers...that sort of thing.....

One of my clients was a small 'green' cosmetics concern....it was just one women and her husband making soaps and shampoo's in the kitchen sink... and selling mainly to their friends and on a market stall.......

I supplied all the labels for the bottles and packaging.....often delivering direct to their home in the evening.....and picking up a cheque at the same time.....

One friday evening I made a delivery in anticpation of picking up a cheque for £1500.00.....only to be told that they were unable to pay me....

I was pissed off and they were embarressed......so after a bit of discussion it was agreed that if they were unable to get the cash for me over the week-end, then on monday they would give me a 15% stake in the concern in full settlement.....

I duly arrived on monday morning expecting to be picking up share certificates but to my surprise I was handed £1500 in cash.

They explained that they had met someone over the week-end who had agreed to put £10,000 into the concern.....

The concern in question?....Anita Roddick's (RIP) now multi-national cosmetics chain Body Shop....!

    Ahh well....back to IM.....

In the early 80's (when I was about 7 years old) I had a VIC 20 and some programming books from my cousin. I would be much better off today if I'd started learning back then, rather than at the age of 27, after getting mental illness. I am now 35. I regret leaving college, but I think there was no other viable option. Same story with creative writing. If I had stuck to it when I started at age 23, I might be farther along here, as well. I often wonder if I am what is called schlimazl in Yiddish, someone who has nothing but bad luck. I just learned the word, last week, by random, on twitter.

You should have said to her that a deal is a deal and she needs to give you the 15% stake.

When I was in High School, the ultra pale-white albino dude with the shock-white curly afro, thin-lipped and weird looking doofus in my Computer Science class had made a program on the Apple IIe using Apple Basic. It was a rectangle with "pins" at one end and a moving point on the other, and at the right moment you would push a button and a "bowling ball" would roll out and hit the "pins".

The Computer Science teacher was very impressed. I thought it was stupid. Asteroids was a REAL game, and pasty-white doofus was never going to catch up with that. All the really cool game ideas had already been done. He was too late, and wasting his time screwing around with computer programming stupid "games" that no one would ever play.

Asteroids was the best video game ever, and it always would be. The time for computer programming was over; they had already done everything that could be done with them, so I decided that I would do something else for a career; something that was going somewhere. I was going to be the most famous Disco musician ever. Even bigger than Barry Manilow. Ozzy Osborne was real popular then, too. That fucker is a vampire, and will live forever.

I thought you were getting somewhere with this story and you were going to tell me this guy was Marc Zuckerberg or something. I'm still not even sure what I just read or what the point of that story was. Were you just speaking in 3rd person?
