So, for example, say I have a website optimized for "Avatar 2" or "Paranormal Activity 3" (a movie which is yet to be officially announced or released).

If I create a post entitled "Avatar 2 release date and trailer" and use a content blocker, but the post only includes a 'spoof' or 'fan-made' trailer, and states something like, "Unfortunately there is no official release date for this movie yet, but we will keep you informed". Is this sort of thing allowed? The post title is slightly misleading, but it's only a post title after all.

I would be really pissed if I had to complete a survey or whatever to just get "Oh sorry and ****, it's not actually out". I wouldn't do it. I want more people refering my site rather than 10,000 pissed people leaving.

Thanks, but I want money, not referrals.

It depends on the network that you're with.

When I used to run with CPA Lead, their policy was essentially - "You cannot offer what you do not have on your widget", which was taken to mean you cannot display the words 'Watch Harry Potter 6 Online' on the widget, if you don't have a stream of Harry Potter 6, but you can display it on the page, and simply brand the widget as a security lock, or a spam prevention device.

However, that's with CPA Lead, and that was like a year ago. Times have changed. I'd contact your affiliate manager if I were you, perhaps through a different email in case they say no, but you want to go ahead with it anyway.

Back when I was in the game of tv stream sites I used to do this type of promotion to grab traffic quick. If you are the first video for the unreleased movie then you will start receiving massive amounts of traffic. Make sure to check if its true that the movie is coming out so you don't 100% bullshit them.

The movie isn't confirmed.. that's why people are searching for my keyword, and that's why my CTR sucks. People are searching specifically for an official release date, and so they are blind to ads. Hence, I need to force-feed them something. :D

    - Use a third party solution that blanks referrer
    - Select a nice template
    - Find some relevant offers with your favourite CPA network (email subs)
    - On the gateway put:

"To win tickets to the premiere showing of Movie X releasing on date X, please register your interest with one of our sponsors"

Something like that usually works. As long as you are blanking referrer, the networks shouldn't find out, and the leads you are sending should be pretty decent too.

If in doubt just contact your affiliate manager and ask by giving an example.
