Open Source Social Network can be called a private similar version of Facebook.
It's a great idea with a lot of potential.

* Mainstream /traditional social media has far too much censorship, politics, power tripping mods and lunatics. So, an alternative to commercial platforms is private ones.

* Sadly, OSSN just isn't ready to fill that need and so far the only alternative that I've found is the old school forums like Vbullitin, MYBB and PHPBB.

* OSSN has a poor selection of themes available and the odds are that none of them will be a *good enough* fit until you can tweet or create your own.

* There's only limited out of the box functionality. Instead you have to add modules /plugins and many of them have to be paid for and the only testing you get is afterwards.

It's honestly a GREAT IDEA but at this time it's only going to work for hobbyists. Someone trying to do something to make money is going to find themselves having to invest both time and money to make it suit their needs. The problem is that there are no promises that it CAN fulfill your needs. Most often business is about nickles and dimes more than it's about dollars. In this case there's not enough incentive to take a chance on a product that clearly needs to mature.
