I want to pick your brains(if your cool with it) on this question.

Which approach do you take in marketing your products?

I honestly think the sales letter format is overused and ugly - but I'm biased since I'm a part time web developer. I did notice bounce rate decrease with the mini site approach, and time on site increased. But bottom line, zero sales! I plan on working with Taz who's offering to do a nicer looking landing page. But would like more input from the master marketers on here.

Here's a quick breakdown of what I've done so far. The site is almost 1 month old.

    1. Researched an ebook on CB with decent gravity & sales
    2. Purchased .info url similar to ebook destination page
    3. Built sales letter (mini-site) here http://www.guygetsgirltoday.info/dev/
    4. Built info site here http://www.guygetsgirltoday.info
    5. Article marketing, conversation domination setup (squidoo, hub, blog, etc)
    6. PPC on top converting key words

    Results:
0 sales with mini-site sales letter
    0 sales with info site
PPC gives me 3 clicks a day max due to competing advertisers

150 total hops (prob 1/2 are mine from testing)

    Questions:
Should I just offer a 1 page sales letter landing page for the PPC campaign?

Competitors are paying up to $1.00 a click, should I compete for those terms? They must be converting.

What am I doing wrong if it's apparent from my site.

    Thanks for any help!

The first place I would look is at your competitors. What are they doing? You say they must be converting. Chances are some of them have already optimized. Start from where they are...

The PPC indactes not so much traffic going in.
On site: the never ending discusion with webdesigners and marketing guys: the use of graphics. If you use them: make sure they are relevant. The one on top is your very first impression. I don't know... is it dating for nerds? Most guys would go for a hot girl... not much use trying to sell them a book on how to pick up a nerdy chick.
Also if you want them to subscribe to your newsletter, have the sign up box above the fold.
There are to many confusing links.
Especially if have low traffic, focus on the one action you want your prospect to take: sign up or buy etc.
Funny this book is actually the first one I used BH techniques in. It isn't so good.
I haven't cheched your hubs, blogs or whatever.

    After the keyword research:
    1. Make keyword rich pages.
    2. Make a page for 5-10 keywords.
    3. Make a lot of pages.
    4. Every page to be squeeze page. (or just with order now button you decide)
    5. Run your pages at google keyword tool and it will show you which keywords you can use for the page. This will lower your bids due to relevant content.
    6. Make different ad groups for every page using the keywords from google.
    7. Run the campaign for 3 or 4 days not in USA. This way you will get cheaper click and more impressions eventually more clicks. You will get higher CTR + QS. Then start USA and you will get higher positions with cheap clicks.

Thanks for the critique Neokk, I switched out my header pic with something more appealing (Sexy). I guess I was thinking too much into that (find a girl that fits you) picture. The angle with the info site is to give the visitor info and have them download (buy the ebook) or something from the 'dating resource' box on the right sidebar, or the shirt city affiliate ad, and lastly the email opt-in that auto-responds with a dating tips newsletter with links to the ebook.

    Dikozall,
I like that approach also, so I plan on working with Taz on the landing page and duplicating it with the targeted keywords. Thanks for the tip on using it out of country first.

However, which version were you all influenced the most? Sales page style(http://www.guygetsgirltoday.info/dev) or info site http://www.guygetsgirltoday.info ?

Both will work. But for now the info site is much much better. About the sales page you have to touch the design a little. It looks unprofessional at the moment.

    1. Make space between the ends of the page and the text.
    2. Center the big red texts.
    3. Add some fancy graphics.
    4. Clear the table borders.

Basically touch the design a little and you will definitely see better results. I can help you a little if i found some time in the weekend. Drop me a PM.

'...Well some of the Black Hat guys have given their advice but I have to go back to basics as a web and graphic designer and a professional marketer for Blue Chip companies.

Neither w3.guygetsgirltoday.info/dev/ or w3.guygetsgirltoday.info are written well and have many mistakes. The text is not 'punchy' enough. You need to write an agressive sales page.

Some of the images are tacky and have been resized but are now distorted.

The layout is poor and the whole thing to me does not look very professional.

Now before you want to kill me, I'm on your side and only trying to help. I obviously don't have anything against you as I don't know you.

    So to examples.

    You have:

Tired of being lonely? Are you too shy to meet women? Don't know how to make the first move with women? Want to learn how to talk to women?

    But this is better:

    • Tired of being lonely?
    • Are you too shy to meet women?
    • Don't know how to make the first move with women?
    • Want to learn how to talk to women?

Use bullets or even ticks like this: [IMG]

If you have the technology, I would get rid of the Flash presentation on w3.guygetsgirltoday.info/dev/...and replace it with a video presentation of the text that follows your presentation. Have the guy doing it looking Nerdy with a hot babe coming into camera-shot at the end. (I know this sounds corny but you're selling to people who will fall for this sh*t).

I also don't like the 'garden shed' template used for w3.guygetsgirltoday.info/

Don't say, "If you can relate to any of these questions then I can relate to you".

Better to say, "Do any of these problems affect YOU? They sure-as-hell affected me and I was miserable...BUT NOW NO MORE!"
(It is a very good idea to use yourself as a testimonial, whether true or not).

In my opinion the whole thing needs rewriting and designing but we're only talking an hour or two's work, so no big deal.

I hope this has helped and that it points you in the right direction.

Add all the other advice once the actual pages are perfect and you'll have a winner'.

Thanks for the tips on the sales letter Dikozall, I plan on doing some work on that with taz and his format.

Themagician, I'm glad you mentioned what you found was unappealing about both formats, but I want to make sure I'm on the same page with your comments.

"Some of the images are tacky and have been resized but are now distorted."
Do you mean the sales page? Because yes, the flash images have been resized a little and are distorted.

"The layout is poor and the whole thing to me does not look very professional."
Is this in reference to the sales page or info site? I'm totally in agreement with the sales page, however I feel the info site is put together quite well. I'm not going for a Weby Award but I do think it looks trusting and not amateurish.

I plan on doing some rewriting tonight with the tips you suggested.

Thanks for all your help. Keep chiming in with more tips! I can't wait to post results when all this comes to fruition.:)

    Update:
    • Changed background (removed wood paneling)
    • Changed header picture (removed nerdy couple)
    • Tweaked the copy (reworded and cleaned up a lot of mistakes I didn't notice - Thanks Magician!)

I created a new sales-letter landing page here (h**p://www.guygetsgirltoday.info/pick-up-guides/how-to-pick-up-women.html) and targeting 3 keyword phrases matching PPC campaign on google adwords

I linked the sales letter page from my info site at the very bottom with keyword anchor text (how to pick up women). So now it's just about traffic. And damn do I want some!

    Next to do:
continue with article marketing. Going to get some stills or stock video and do video marketing.

No sales yet but still early.
