I have 91 sites including my mastersite. There is no cross linking to MS, each site is geographically based so that's why I didnt care if they were on same server, they are all same niche, same business. but the other sites are too much to handle with seo and now i just use them for ppc, so i'm thinking of just getting private whois on all domains and moving them to a different servers, while keeping MS on VPS and placing a footer link on all of the 90 sites. at the end of the day we are all the same company and service different geographical areas. so i hope it doesnt look bad

so i have a few questions:

    1. in this scenario will it harm my MS if i do any backlinking to MS?
    2. is it worth moving each site to a new server? doesnt seem cost effective to me and i would imagine the 10-20/year shared servers are filled with spam.
    3. if the 90 sites were moved to a different server is it worth to do contextual or footer backlinks to MS? they are static sites. so i would think placing a footer link that is branded would be ok for google because we are the same biz just diferent geographical areas

sorry for long ass post and hope it made sense
