Just curious if anyone know if it makes a huge difference in SEO if you create a new site under a sub-domain instead of a brand new .com. For example if I had 10 new micro-niches I wanted to promote, would it really make that big of a difference if I created them like this:

    microniche1.zonkdonkey.com
    microniche2.zonkdonkey.com
    microniche3.zonkdonkey.com
    microniche4.zonkdonkey.com
    ...etc

or should I just stick with the new .com for each niche?

I wouldn't say it makes a huge difference... but I say it will be relevant still because you would have your targeted keywords in your URL.

The second part of this is create backlinks with proper anchor-text pointing to the specific URL you want to rank higher for.

The backlinks in this case with the proper anchor-text will be the important factor. That's my opinion :)

I'm doing this now... creating 54 subdomains for a market. So far, it is going well. I've created 18 so far and 11 are ranking well already. It is not an extremely competitive niche, but not downright easy either.

My fear is that potentially all of them can get slapped all at once very easily and any income you have created will come crashing down. I don't think I would be comfortable doing this as a sole method or strategy.

There has been some talk about G not ranking a big number of subdomains for any one site, but so far, I have not seen it. That being said, I have two subdomains that I just can't seem to get indexed... so, we'll see...

No problem, you save a lot costs if doing this...

but .com for each niche is better, and you can flip them if you can't manage them anymore...
