I'm checking stats on hundreds of sites on a daily basis. Often times I find anomalies that are absolute nonsense. Here I'm going to show how much bullshit are these three metrics. Many of my clients seem to care about them as if they are the only thing that matters (they doesn't). I sell expired domains, and customers often ask me to find only sites with stats like DA 20+ or TF 20+. Such demands make me angry because the metrics are only indicative, and it doesn't mean that sites below these metrics are bad. Let's start with examples: Ahrefs DR Website: restaurans-nearme.us DR: 40 DA: 1 TF: 1 Referring domains: 2 The domain has only TWO backlinks and only one of them is d0-foll0w, but it's DR is 40!! DR is so high because there aren't that many outgoing d0-f0llow links from Microsoft, so Ahrefs sees that as a very strong backlink, thus it gives it such a high metric. Moz and Majestic don't agree. Moz DA Website: wood*******.com (won't disclose, not registered) DR: 1.2 DA: 23 TF: 8 Referring domains: 22 Very high DA, Good TF, but DR only 1.2. Why is that? Backlinks come from related websites to woodworking. Most of the backlinks come from forums. Ahrefs considers this a shit domain, Moz and Majestic don't agree. Majestic TF Website: eve*****.fm (won't disclose, not registered) DR: 21 DA: 22 TF: 0 Referring domains: 36 Majestic thinks this site is shit. Ahrefs and Moz don't agree. Backlinks are good - editorial links from strong domains. No spam there. I would buy this site in an instant. But customers who look at TF won't even consider it. What are your thoughts about all this?
