    Hello BHW,

i profited so much out of the methods presented in BHW, let me give sth back. It is a method or a way i guess 98 % of you never thought of. Its about Records! Yeah, i hear you saying sth like "haha man, records are dead, forget it". But did you know that the companies producing records had the highest demand from labels since the 80s? Here in Austria, many big shopping malls are selling records again and the demand is rising. To all the guys saying Records are dead i say CD´s will be dead, records will stay alive!

But lets get to the method now:

ATTENTION: This is not for lazy guys. This is for guys, who are willing to put in some work. Its easy work, but it still is work!

    1. Look for good offers on ebay or forums, when someone wants to sell his whole collection. I found out the best place is ebay. Because so many guys are thinking they can make no money out of records, they do an auction starting from 0,99 $ and then many record collections worth more then 1 $ per record are going away for 10p per record.

IMPORTANT: DONT BUY FROM DEALERS! Always check the feedback of the seller and what they sold before. Best is some private seller, never sold records before and now saying "sell my DJ-collection, 2000 records for sale". There is the highest possibility he didnt sort out the good ones and sells the trash. With the dealers you will always get the trash.

It depends on the style you like the most. I liked House/Trance/Hardtrance the most so my limit was 0.1-0.2 Euro per Record + shipping (shipping costs a hell when you buy records, better to get someone where you can pick them up).

    2. Suppose you found a good looking collection, received maybe a list of titles. Now go to discogs.com ! This will be your new site from now. Discogs is the biggest marketplace for buying/selling records. There are over 13 Million Records listed there, over 2 Million releases. There are other platforms like cdandlp but discogs is the biggest one. Check the record list you got or the labels on discogs and figure out how much they will be sold. If you have enough return, go for the collection and bid. My first collections were shitty, you gain experience from time to time. I wouldnt suggest you to buy a large collection at first, start small. If you want to go bigger, get a little warehouse. You will need some space.

    3. Now you were the highest bidder on the collection. Congratulations! When you got them in your home, sort the whole collection. THIS IS THE WORKING PART! I had 11.000 records and it was like 200 hours work to check them on discogs and sort them. When you have workers doing it for cheap money, you can get a higher arbitrage of course.

Now im putting in a trick: The records, which are not worth 1 Euro on discogs or are not sold in the last 2-3 years: Put artist/title in a txt and sell them in packages on CL or ebay. This way i sold 7000 records in 5 month and doubled my investment just with these useless trash!!!! I bought the records for 0.2-0.25 Euro per record incl. shipping and sold them in 50-100 vinyl packages with list for 0.5-0.6 Euro each record on ebay/ads! Easy money!!!!

Imagine: this was just the trash.. now we get to the real deal!!!

The good records you list in discogs and set your account up there. Discogs is way easier to sell, its a very kind platform! Just list the whole stock and wait for the orders. Discogs will take 8 % of the selling price, no listing fees. You could push your stock with adwords or SEO, i didnt do it and it worked out. Make sure you do your gradings properly (there are tutorials all over the internet) and offer good prices and always have some offers like (buy 5 records and get 1 extra-bonus vinyl for free). There will be always vinyls you cant find on discogs (1-2%). SO you get rid of these ones when you give them away as extra-bonus vinyls to a larger order. User will buy more vinyls this way because they want sometihng for free.

There are some twists to this:
    1. you could specialise your store and only sell picture vinyls for example. This makes your stock more exclusive
    2. You could only sell expensive records on discogs (worth over 20 Euro) and sell the rest in packages.

Let me tell you this: I invested 3000 Euro 9 month ago and so far i have 7000 Euro out of it and there are still 1800 records in my stock, which will cost the buyer more then 10.000 euro, if he buys it! And i didnt do it with workers. If you have a team, you can scale it up like the big ones on discogs!!

I hope i covered anything - if you have any questions or need assistance in this: POST IN THE THREAD OR WRTIE A PM! Im here for all the help you need to grow your fucking record-business!!

    Peace out

Great method. Yes, it's not for the lazy person, but this is totally different from the IM norm, which might get people interested. It sure made me interested. Now to put it to good use. Thanks and Rep given.

    Much appreciated.

I am an old school analog loyalist. I'm going to try this for fun as much as profit.

By the way, I just visited the site. It looks good, but I think the people who do this method has to get acquainted with the terms "mint", "near mint", and so on. If they already know about this, then yes, this method looks suited for them.

Another thing I want to throw out there is that I noticed a good seller from HK on that site you mentioned. And that got me thinking, are fakes rampant in this sector? The reason why I ask is because I have been in China for the past 10 years, and faked items are extremely normal day of life here. So, can people fake this at all?

I'm not asking because I want to make replicas of stuff, I just want to know the market a bit better.

    Thanks.

Buy for a dollar, sell for two. Nice method! How do you store your inventory?I've actually heard of people buying Vinyls on ebay and actually re-selling them on Ebay at a higher price (with better advertising etc).

    Guys, you are awesome!!!

Im extreme in these things: Im living with a room mate and we have a 75qm flat, my room is 22qm. I stored 11.000 records here, it was extreme!!!!! There was no chance to open that fucking window in my room for 1 month.

You can do it on every level - buy 100 records or 1000. 50 or 50.000!! But go only for auctions, only for private sellings. Grandpa selling his old collection - always a good shot! Im envy of the prog/psychedelic rock addicts. There are records worth more then 500 Euro and actually selling for these prices!

@rgeczi - i noticed no fakes up to now and i never had a buyer asking whether this record is fake or genuine! If its possible to produce replicas, there could be another method involved here but i wouldnt try it because buying a large record producing machine will cost you 100k for sure.

Regarding grading: I have no knowledge in grading. Read that one time and then only looked at the record and immediately gave it a grade without looking deeper. Got some complaints, but its 1% or 2 % complaining. But its better if you know it.

@kiggd - haha yeah- but the math goes like this: buy for 0.1-0.2, sell trash for 0.5-0.6 and the other maybe 40%, maybe 60 % for 1 $ up to xxx $. I had 20 Records worth more then 50 $ out of it and 4 records already sold. This is getting epic then!

Stored them in my room, advantage is you dont need to fuel the room so much. The records keep the room warm in winter haha! But seriously, i would suggest to store them anywhere else, where you dont have your bed etc.

Btw this is the record, which got the highest selling price ever in discogs:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roo6DeL-VEs

    over 4000 $ for this 7".

On the high price side, its endless. Like everything you can collect, there are guys paying a bunch for rare stuff.

If you have any questions, post in the thread or PM me. Im here to help you with everything i know from the past 9 month!

you get some cheap protection sleeves on ebay for cheap money. If you are selling DJ-related stuff, it doesnt matter with ir without original sleeve. With older music, which is more interesting to collectors, its more important, but you can still sell them for very good money.
Let me give you an insider from my experience: DJ´s dont care about exact grading and sleeve. They want that sound. With collectors, you have to be more precise and exact. They care much about the sleeve/cover and the quality of the record.

Let me tell you some background and why i did this:

Last August i had no money after i got scammed. I really had to start sth from scratch. I did some shady stuff in August and September, which brang me ca. 3000 Euro in my pockets, but i feared to get problems. So i moved into records, because they are legit and you have sth physical in your hand. Nothing virtual here - you can feel the sound and have pleasure with it. So i bought this big bunch of records, which got me enough money now to invest big in good ideas and opportunities.

This is not a "become a millionaire in 2 month" thing, unless you have 250k or 500k to invest, BUT this is for guys, who want to get the money to invest into real deals! You scale this up and then you´ll be an investor and relax!
