Note: For those that are following, this is Day 13 of my 30 Day Challenge posted in Journey Discussions part of the forum.
If you are building a brand, have a community/membership site, high priced products, niche related products with great LTV, ... you SHOULD do this.
I can't explain how much did personalized / 'handwritten' / niche related 'thank you' cards did for the majority of shops/membership sites/courses when we implemented the whole process.
We are living in an era where everything is digitalized, and we almost completely lost touch with reality, that's why going back to paper is becoming so popular again.
Did you notice the popularity of paper planners again? People are going crazy over those for the last few years. Exactly the same is happening with postcards.
Step by step:
1. Find best/popular/niche related quote, saying, something they are passionate about,...
2. Find someone to design it
IMPORTANT: Put your website URL below the quote!
3. Personalized message on the other side
4. There are a lot of sites offering this service where you upload the design and message and are directly sent to the customer. Sites that I used:
---
For those of you with Shopify stores, there are apps that automate the whole process and send the cards for less than $1 per card.
For example, you can automate the process with rules as > if a customer spends above $50 - sent him a thank you card after a week, with XXX promo code, ...
---
A few examples of what happened when we did this for several clients in different niches
▶ People started posting these cards on their social profiles, thanking us for being so thoughtful, sending a picture of cards hanging on their fridge, some of them even framed the card - this is why it's important to find a perfect quote!
▶ We implemented this into a digital membership site, where the subscriber gets a card every two months - they don't know about it, and this is the only physical thing they get. This way, we managed to improve retention for two months without changing anything else.
▶ This also works perfectly for angry customers (mostly high priced products) after you are trying to resolve the issue. This way, you will be able to avoid a lot of damage. Even if you have to refund them, send them a card apologizing for whatever happened (from 'CEO'). We even had a customer getting back to the membership and becoming a diehard fan
and few thanking us on how we resolved the issue.
▶ We are sending cards to influencers for reviewing our products and building a relationship. This works perfectly to get great exposure with any new product, getting free content, and becoming an authority in a certain niche.
---
Think about it ... How many times will they be reminded about your brand with one card? With how many friends/family members will talk about this? How many people will see your card? Waaaay more than seeing a random 'thank you for your purchase' email, that doesn't mean anything anymore.
That's it for today!

- Say THANK YOU, be thoughtful in your message, make them feel it's personal, and don't just send them a coupon!
- You can be lazy and order a bulk of cards with the same message OR hire someone to paste the message manually and change the name (Dear, -VS- Dear Jane, >> who do you think will get more exposure?) If you have a hundreds of these talk to the company directly, and they might find a solution for you.
