Ok, so there are really three different sides to the industry....

Talent, supply, and retail..... And yes vid sites are considered retail.

    TALENT: Porn Stars:
If you are a very promiscuous person, and love sex with multiple partners, you probably will qualify for some type of porn... Granted they are looking for guys with large parts, and women that are very attractive, or have fake parts, or guy parts that can take large parts.... If you fit these criteria, you may have some hope... This will pay varyingly because you have levels between the video companies.... When you are just starting out, you can be paid between 50 and up per shoot for men, and 200-500 for women... If you get signed up with a very popular video company, you can make a lot more.

    SUPPLY: Videographers:
If you are great with video equipment, you may have a good job as being a videographer. Personality requirements is that you have to be non-creepy, very professional, but still understand what people are looking for when they watch porn. You should probably be able to film a wide range of video, from lesbian, gay, and straight. Therefore you will be able to make the maximum amount of money that is possible, because there are a lot of people that are squeamish about this type of thing. If you are independent, then you sell your videos to companies for varying amounts of pay, but you are also responsible for paying the talent. You have to provide sets and edit the video yourself. If you are signed with a company, the company pays you a standard amount per video you shoot and I am sure that some companies have editors, and some make you edit as well, but you don't have to provide anything else for the movies. Oh and you have to make sure that you have all the correct forms showing that you informed the talent of the video and its purpose and verifying the age of the talent. Also, I am not sure how you sell the content to the companies, and I imagine that it would be hard if you don't use the right equipment such as HD cameras... They like videos with those...

    Companies:
If you have a video providing company for retail sales, AKA wholesale adult dvd/video products, you have to have a lot of money for start up. You buy videos from videographers or hire videographers and mass produce them for sale. It could be profitable however. There are lots of rules for this and you are liable for suing if the videographers didn't do the things they are supposed to. Such as forms, the 2257 form is very important, as well as the verifying of age.

    RETAIL:
    Storefronts, online or offline:
You buy the wholesales videos. You sell them... Its pretty simple, except for you have to verify age of the customers, as ruled by everyone's state or countries legislation. This is done by creating a form that states that they are of legal age in their region, be it 18, 21, or whatever. Its pretty much copy paste of others stuff... Oh, and you can't have a company that is adult retail, such as videos and assorted products even if online if you live in certain places... Such as Oklahoma.... Well, your not supposed to.... There are all kinds of forms for creating a retail store offline, because you have all kinds of people that are offended by this... Personally, I think its bullshit, but you can have your store closed down with no reparations if you don't file something with your city/county/states. People will pretty much close your business down....

    Video Sites:
These are a dime a dozen.... People will have problems paying for something that they can get online for free.... UNLESS... You can have all unique content updated daily, bi-daily, weekly... Which is hard to keep up unless you are a videographer yourself or have a deal with one...

But remember people, this is an overview and please don't be posting links of stuff... Unless its valid information that would help with this thread.... Like legal stuff... Yeah.. We will be answering the questions on here. So please, don't be PMing us with the named questions, just post here. There will be responses... :D

    Thanks,

    Amanda and Jason!

Dont forget the person that charges to take std tests and selling herpes cream on the sets

i hear lot of pornstars have herpes on the sets but they only ask for hiv test.

Belladonna said shes had it for the last 5 years and she got fucked the most. Anal herpes too.

That's the paysite version of porn hehe.

For starters I thinkmaking money as an affiliate will give you better understanding of how things work. When you know affiliate promotions like the back of your hand, then you can take your notch a level higher.

    ;)

Well, I only worked as talent.... I didn't get into the whole thing of running the companies and stuff... Stayed amateur, because I didn't want to be all big and bad... Was some easy money for me... :D

But I did talk to my videographer that I went through and if you just wanted to hire someone to video tape some stuff, some charge only 700 per day, and you could film about 8 shoots if you only did 30 min video length, because when you edit the video, it cuts out a lot of mins so if you hired him for 9 hrs, giving sets a time to be changed, as well as 1 hr shoots, you should make a little off the videos if you just hired out...

    Thanks,

    Amanda

ewww herpes..really? It's probably because there's two sides to the porn industry.

The professional pornstars and the small time pornstars. The professional pornstars all have labels and they're administered big tests like hiv, stds etc. But the small time ones require nothing. The pros sometimes branch out and do stuff with the small times and they introduce the stds into the professional.

Both of us are involved in what I DID... I don't do it anymore, just out of personal preference.... Plus, its not like I did any guys, I chose chicks... LOL... Gosh, sometimes, you people surprise me with the lack of understanding of open couples... We know pretty much everything that each other has done.. :D

And even on the small time sets, they sometimes require STD tests... Not just for HIV, but for all of them, including chlamydia and gonorrhea... Some times, they just ask.... :D

OK let talk about the logistics of a shoot.
You need to line out how many shoots you are planning to have before asking for talent.

You must have a place to shoot.
I will lay out a what you would do for a party shoot as they seem to be hot on the net now.

You can rent a local house and put some furniture in it, or rent a spot that already does porn shoots with ready made furniture, it depends on your location.
As for the alcohol, pick a lot of it... People really like to "loosen up" before performing. Mostly girls, but I am sure that a few men are camera shy.
Hire a couple of ringers to start it off, and just let it go.....
You still have to inform everyone that they will be on camera as well as have everyone sign a paper saying its ok for the use of their image on the video. Take pictures of their photo id, as well as their Social Security card, so that you have two forms of ID for each person in case you ever have to prove that they are how old and who they are.
Oh and if you just want real people too, you can just advertise on the personals..... You will get spam, but people will be interested... A lot of guys, so you have to limit how many you respond to.. There will be couples also...

    Hope this helps some!

Like anything else it take a investment. The same guys own several sites. There are also lots of small sites ran by the talent. And still other sites rely on affilates for paying traffic.I hope that answers this question.

How would you suggest promoting sex toys sites or cam sites? I mean as far as getting links and so on.........I got a sale out of the clear blue one day, with no promotion or anything, just found me on the SE's....this was for a cam site, and it was an easy 100 bucks, but the key is to replicate that many times over.

What percentage of the adult performers that you were involved with have or had substance abuse problems? I wonder if it is any different from the general public or not?

Ok, for the percentage of adult performers, in our experience, a lot have or had substance abuse problems... At one point or another in their life... For the most part, no, it doesn't affect their working abilities... They are health conscious because its their body that pays the bills... They may do one thing before, or after, a lot just smoke pot, but so does millions of Americans... We worked with professionals, and if a crew member or a woman was caught doing shit, they were fired, because if its like meth or that kind of drug, it affects your looks, it affects your behavior and performance. Jason has experience with this in the music industry, which has a higher rate of substance abuse... It comes with the territory... But its not as prevalent as people think that it is...

And the fact is, all performing women have body issues... So thats why you shouldn't be so concerned with their habits, because there are only two sections of people that do a lot of drugs, the ones at the bottom, making 100 or some low ass number, that just want to fund their habit, or at the very top, where its a performance career, and their use of it, still won't compromise their money, because its what they are wanting...

And one other thing, when you are talking to adult performers, don't just treat them like meat, that is one way you will NOT ever have the pleasure of company... They like compliments, but they like being treated like real people...

What in this thread was so bad? Are you a religious right person? But this is a multi billion dollar a year industry... lol, just like IM... Not everyone does the same job... But what do you find so offensive? Do you find the porn offensive, somehow, unless you are real religious, i doubt it... Or just a real view at what goes on behind the scenes, makes it a little less interesting?

When you say "all performing women have body issues", do you mean that they have some type of std's or sexually transmitted disease?

Jenna Jameson, for example, has or is purported to have a problem with prescription medication addiction. That is what she and Tito Ortiz were supposedly fighting about.

True, substance abuse cuts across many professions.

I guess that due to the nature of the work, I would think that a performer puts fellow workers at a higher risk if they are addicted and not being careful in their sexual practices.

Anyway, glad that you are into other things now, that are less risky. :)
