I don't know if anyone has shared this trick before, but I have been using it for a while and thought I would pass it on. We are all familiar with the big business directories like merchantcircle. Well most of these type of sites scrape around the web and list most any business that they find. They put these up with an option for the owner to "Claim This Listing". Many of these unclaimed listings have been up for years gathering PR from the rest of the site.

They are easy to claim and don't require any real verification. You just click the button, add your email and its yours. You can now add your own Do-follow backlinks to the listing. So the idea is to find high PR unclaimed listings. Personally I use SEOQuake a plugin for firefox that allows me to see the PR of every page in a search result. So I do a search like

[ your keywords site:merchantcircle.com ] This is how I get high PR links from them. Just dont try to claim more than one on the same ip address or same email. They have a system in place to detect that. Now go get some links!

Been using this method for some time.

    You need to:
    Clear Cookies
    Use Proxy
    Unique and Valid E-mail

Do that for each listing otherwise they all get removed at once when an owner finally comes and says "yo, wtf!" and sends them an e-mail. If you keep them clean from each other though it only takes a minute to get your link on these pages which are mostly PR2-PR4.

Okay, so I jacked somebody's page and it went pretty smoothly. I have a question tho... Where do I put the link? Cause the page with the PR shows the link with the anchor text of "Main Website" and if I create a new blog then that page has no PR even tho it is a do-follow within the blog for selected anchor text. What up then?

Also I'm thinking if you go and change the name of the business to your keywords you will lose the PR as it is now a different url. Correct or not? Cause the first one I did like this I went and changed the business name to my keywords trying to make the page more relevant to my link or whatever.

    What does everyone else think?

Unfortunately on the main pr page you will be stuck with the "main website anchor" but it still passes juice. You should go ahead and create the blog with your keyword links, as it will begin receiving link juice from the main page right away. Before you know it the blog will gain some pr as well. The blog links are do follow as well if I recall correctly.

I have not tried changing the business name, so I cant give you a good answer on what happens with that. I would imagine that once the url changes all the pr would be lost. Like I said though, I have not tried it myself.

Okay. Sounds good, definitely going to be taking these pages down plus I have a couple more ideas for this like putting in cloaked aff links in place of their websites. We'll see how it goes. Thanks.

When you do this search in G use this:

    Keywords "Claim This Listing" site:merchantcircle.com

Then you always find pages available to take.

BTW if anyone is wondering a Google search for "city chinese food" will bring up all of the big sites. There are like 15 of them that are good for this.
