Hey everyone,

I've been on this forum for about 9 months now, and the amount of knowledge I have absorbed from the beautiful minds here has been staggering. I figured I would now give back what I can and when I can to the community. This place can make you very wealthy if you truly absorb and apply the information.

Before I found this community I was helping clients with their social media to the tune of $250/month (and I would try to only work 5 hours). I still have a few clients that I typically enjoy working with, but have since moved on to bigger and better things, and am currently working on building two long-term brands.

This is a great guide for beginners to make some cash if they know nothing else but how to successfully navigate and build on social media.

So, with no website and no paid advertising how can you do this? I just used the power of social media and Craigslist...yes, THAT Craigslist. **Note - Craigslist still works...I tried it last week just to be sure and got 3 emails and 1 client within a 2 day period for about an hour of work...we will come back to this**

Step 1: Gain some social proof for a Facebook page (or landing page)
When I first started I didn't realize I could just buy reviews or have people I knew post reviews for me - I was completely ignorant to the fact, so I helped 10 random people build their socials for free in return for a review posted to my Facebook page. Just buy some reviews or have your friends leave them to skip this step.

Step 2: Save some of your posts for proof of reach and engagement
When you're helping people grow, or if you're posting things on your own on social media that get a lot of engagement, make sure you take screenshots to use during your pitch. Here's an example:
N5NYbnu.png

This helps people see that I actually know what I'm talking about, as I have organic reach they can only dream of. It definitely seals the deal when they know if I help them this is the kind of engagement they'll get.

Step 3: Find clients
This is the "work" part of this. I would just use Facebook and Instagram to find people who need help. Let's say I want to try to work with as many vegan foodies as possible since it's a growing niche and I find food to be one of the easiest of niches to grow. So, on Facebook I would search something like "vegan" and then filter the results by page. I would scroll down targeting people with a couple thousand likes or less. I would scroll quickly while right click/opening in new tab for speed sake, and then I would run through them and see A. how long have they been trying to grow this page and B. are they still active. If they've only been at it for a couple of months and have thousands of followers, then they most likely no what they're doing and won't need your help), though it doesn't hurt to reach out, and obviously you want them to still be actively posting.

For Instagram I would search the most popular vegan tags, so lets pretend we search "vegansofig". and then I would quickly scroll down the results and hover my mouse over the photos as I went, looking for posts that had less than 50 likes on them. I would again right click/open in new tab so I can move quickly and check a ton of people at once, and I would look for the same thing: someone with quite a few posts (indicating they've been at it for a while) that's still actively posting. I don't like spamming via messenger on insta, as I find most people never even look at it, so I typically take the email route here and collect the emails then send a mass email. A large % of these people already have a blog setup even though they aren't getting traffic, or they will just list their email in their bio maybe praying that some company will want them to do an endorsement with their weak following.

Note** Don't go too fast with messaging pages on Facebook or you will get the temp ban. Space it out a bit...I would message 5 then wait 30 minutes or so (I don't know the actual time)**

Step 4: Selling yourself
So, I would write a nice message and then reach out to all these people quickly. On Facebook you just open up the chat with the Facebook page you're targeting and go page-by-page copying and pasting your message, and for Insta send a mass email. I would write something along the lines of "Hey I'm a social media marketer and manager. I help people grow their socials and make money from them. I think you have great content but you could use a little help with the growing process." yadda yadda yadda and then I always show them my engagement. Since I didn't have a website up and didn't look super "legit", I would typically tell them we can do the first hour for free as a show of good faith, and then they can pay me $100 for their first paid hour to make up for it. I would also let them know there's no long-term obligation - they can pay for an hour whenever they find they need me. Typically when talking to someone about this for an hour it's easy to sell that you know what you're doing and you can help them...assuming you actually know what you're doing.

So, that's really it. If you're good with the ins and outs of social media you can definitely use this to make your first internet marketing money. You can even reach out to people on Pinterest, Reddit, Twitter, etc, with the same idea in mind.

Bonus: I found Craigslist to be a hidden gem. I would write out a post and list it as "Internet marketing lessons" in the "general" section of "for sale". Then I randomly go city-to-city posting my listing and charging $50 as the price and you actually get a great amount of emails. Craigslist will eventually flag and remove your posts, but it honestly takes a while and it's so easy to just copy and paste for an hour a day. As I posted above, I tested out if it still works and it does. I posted 10 times in 10 different cities (it took about 10 minutes) and within 3 days I got 3 emails and landed a client. He signed up for 2 sessions at $50/hr and he should be a long-term client. I decided to charge $50/hr instead of what I used to do ($250/month) and I think it's better psychologically.

This is a method you can use to scale an actual business if you're actually good at helping people build their followings, and eventually you can outsource the work and just manage it. I don't enjoy it that much and am happy to be no-longer doing it, but this method should be able to help beginners with good knowledge on using social media. Good luck.

On Facebook you just open up the chat with the Facebook page you're targeting and go page-by-page copying and pasting your message

This information WILL get your FB page and even your account banned within hours, especially when you use copy/paste text, I am willing to bet thousands of euros that you never have done this yourself.

I call BS!

$50/hr. If I get people who are hesitant, I tell them we can do the first hour before they pay me. When this occurs, we do the first hour, then they'll pay $100 before the next hour (this is just to make up for the first hour we did without payment as a show of good faith). That's where the $100 figure came from.

What do you do on the first paid hour? Do you run ads on their account?
I run 0 ads. I don't know how to. We discuss what they're trying to accomplish and I discuss with them how I will help them achieve this.

Nice Method
But how do collect payment
I get paid via Paypal, Venmo or Facebook Messenger.

Thanks for your contribution! :)
No problem!

I hope you read where I stated, "Don't do this super fast or you'll get temp banned". Yes, if you spam like Crazy Facebook will temp block you. If you get unblocked and go right back to it they will temp block you again. My account has never been banned, and like I said, go slowly. Also, idk why you said your Facebook page since I'm reaching out to PAGES with MY PROFILE. Yes, I have done this before lol. I still have two clients who I got through Facebook.

Great method, thanks, do you work remotely with them or meet them first
I work remotely.

Thanks bud!

One other thing I would like to mention: I once got a new client just by being in a Facebook group and asking a question. I was helping an artist grow her social and she was thinking about self-publishing a book so I went into a self-published author group on Facebook and asked what the best way for her to go about the process is. When I worded it I had put it's a client I'm helping grow their social and someone messaged me soon after asking me about my service. We talked on the phone a couple of days later for about an hour and she was signed up as an author who needed help growing. I'm still working with her today. So, although I didn't do this in mass, perhaps going into groups and asking good questions (ones that will get a lot of responses from the type of group it is) and mentioning it's to help your client grow their brand or w.e will get a lot of eyes on the post and maybe people reaching out to you because they need/want help.

So how do you grow your clients accounts?

Do you just buy for them followers, likes, comments at SMM providers or you grow their account organically with posting quality content...?

bump for interest. $50 an hour would get you in trouble if just buy followers for them, another way is using some kind of bot with api / login access but for many clients / agencies thats too risky

Great share, i have couple questions:

Why pricing hourly instead of monthly payment ?
do you sign long term client using hourly payment ?
what is the average recurring client ?

This would definitely help a lot. I'm into IG lately.
Awesome man goodluck!

It was a nice read.

Dont you think $50/hrs is a bit overpriced?
Thanks! I personally do not, but it's a matter of preference. If you think it's too much then start with $20 an hour and see how it goes. People aren't going to be leaning on you for 10 hours a week. If you're detailed enough with explaining to them how to grow then they will want to talk once a week at most. When you do $250/month (or any set amount per month) make sure you include your terms for time in there. You don't want people paying you $250 a month and wanting you to work 20 hours a week and then you're making $4 an hour. If you charge by the month let them know how many hours you'll do a week to make it worth your time.

Amazing guide and method
Thanks!

I do not buy followers ever. I show them how to grow organically using their content.

I help them grow organically with their content. I don't buy anything.

I started by charging monthly, but I think if you get to a point where you make it worth your time ($250/month) that price seems really high to people. I think that when they see $50 an hour with no long-term obligation (aka pay as you need me), they feel a bit safer and like it's cheaper. They know they can do 1 hour and that may be all they need. Instead of $250/month they can just get my help once or twice a month as needed. I have no data to back up which is better, but I personally felt moving to an hourly was better. Feel free to experiment with prices/times. I also don't know the exact percentage of recurring clients, but it's high. Most people continuously need you if you can provide value and teach them not only how to grow but monetize. We all know IM is constantly evolving, so by keeping up to date with trends and how the landscape is changing you can continue to feed them information that they didn't know and make them realize they still need you. Of the 3 clients I'm working with now I've been with 2 of them for a year now at $250/month and the third guy I just got from Craigslist and we already discussed the vision for his project which is long-term so I should have him a few times a month at $50/hr for many months to come. He also has money behind him which helps.

Thanks for sharing
You're most welcome!

Thanks for the method mate.
You're welcome!

Of course! :)

I use various methods to grow organically. I have different methods for each platform.

Seeing a few holes in this methods

How many followers is the most realistic you can grow organically? Cos your clients might even expect you to grow 1k or even 20k followers in an hour if you do not tell them any solid numbers

LOL I mean don't sit here and promise them anything. I'm not contacting people and telling them I can gain them x amount of followers every month. I tell them realistically the range they can expect and you should always underestimate. I tell them my best clients are averaging x new followers a month and my worst are averaging this many. If they want your service they will try it. If they don't, they won't. It's that simple. There are billions of people on social media who don't even know how to take advantage of Facebook groups, let alone use things like engagement groups. There are hundreds of millions of people who have been trying to grow their socials for a year+ and are getting next to no new followers because they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. There are millions of business owners who are middle-aged who want to sell online but don't know how to break into the social media world. I can keep going on and on, but you get my point. Who the hell is expecting 20k followers in an hour? Justin Bieber?

nice method man. Like what numbers do you think i can realistically come up with to convince a client that i can grow his social. At least if he's paying $50/hr he expect certain numbers of engagement.
