Let's say we want to use “zodiac signs” as an example.

The first thing you need to do (after researching KWs) is to write a master article

ex.: “Zodiac Signs: the Complete Guide”

In this master article, go deep into the topic of “zodiac signs”

Listing all the signs (H2s) and writing about the sub-topics (H3s, H4s)

  • General Info about X
  • Strengths of X
  • Weaknesses of X
  • Career Advice of X
  • Love Advice of X
  • Partners for X

+ a few random Q's about the general topic

(Write around 500 words for each sub-topic / Qs)

This 'pillar page' will be the center of your cluster & gives you a good chance of ranking for the main keywords – in this case, “zodiac signs” – in the future and sets your cluster articles up splendidly + You've just built your cluster structure.

Because ...

Every sub-topic you've written a short text about can now be expanded to a fully fleshed-out article:

“You want to learn more about possible careers for Capricorns? Read our in-depth guide”.

--> "The 7 perfect career options for Capricorns (and which to avoid)"

hwBEOys

Now you only () need to write all the articles you've mentioned in your master article (in-depth)

Make sure to internally link back from them to your master article(s) and other fitting articles

And you're good to rank!

This is how you should build topical authority in a sub-niche and consequently in the main niche (repeating the steps)

Bonus:
If you really want to stand out, make your Master Pages as UX-friendly as possible Use (jump) buttons, a proper design, and custom images to make sure your site isn't just another "random niche site".

Make it EASY for your visitors to get to the point they want to learn more about ex.: a Capricorn wouldn't care about Aquarius weaknesses 99% of the time, make it easy to skip irrelevant content

Would you be able to get one done for me for a fee? I want a perfect example. DM me cost if so!

Excellent explanation mate. This how any Pillar post should be created. Though, I had read about it earlier also, thanks for refreshing the memories

Great idea. Thanks for your information and sharing this content

I've got a blog that's ranking well for a very very high keyword. Let's go with your example: my blog is ranking in 1st position for 'zodiac signs'. Awesome keyword, loads of volume, but the user intent is vague. Is it a request for information? Is there transactional value? the other SERPs for the keyword are all varied, so it's hard to be sure.

Because the topic is in-depth, my article touches on loads of different topics - each sign, but also it's traits, good pairings, bad pairings, idea jobs etc.

As a result, that blog is ranking for keywords like 'best jobs for virgos' as well as 'zodiac signs'.

Is it worth writing a separate blog about virgos if my main blog is also ranking for that keyword?

And let's say 'zodiac signs' had some form of transaction or commercial intent behind the keyword, would it be worth changing it to a transaction-based landing page, while still linking out to all my other articles about each zodiac sign?

I'm amazed at how relevant zodiac signs are to my actual business now

There's is seller here who does done for you topical authority research and gives detailed reports, it's excellent, can't post his sales thread here though, check marketplace if someone want to know.

You have explained well, and one more thing I want to add is to work on zero search volume keywords which you can grab it form Google Instant Method. It worked for me in a different and amazing way.

Good ideas ✌️✌️

I could easily relate to this technique because me and my team follow more or less the same approach. Good to see you explaining here.

Yeah, I checked the sample. Sweet service!
