Over the years I have invested in a lot of ecommerce stores. Here’s a step-by-step process to find a great niche, do keyword research, source the products, build out the website according to keyword research, optimize the Google feed and launch the project.

1. Open up the Ahrefs keyword research tool, add the CPC filter of $0.20 and up & add a Google Shopping Filter.

This will allow you to get a list of all the niches/keywords that have Google Shopping Ads that people are bidding on.

2. Go through the list of keywords and pick a niche you like.
The sweet spot is to look for $200+ AOV niches, with low-medium competition, high search volume and easy-to-source products.

3. After you have 3-5 different niches look for an exact match domain, based on the niche/root target keyword of the niche.
If your niche is Wine Coolers, try and go for WineCoolers . com. These domains can be quite expensive, but an exact match domain is going to be the single biggest leverage when it comes to SEO and will work like a cheat code later down the line.

4. Export a list of all of the brands, generic keywords and terms related to your niche and create a content plan.
The plan should be to export every single related keyword to your niche, then cluster them and organize into a map, so you know if it should be targeted with a collection, product, or informational/blog page.

5. After you have the keywords organized into different categories, organize the collections and products into categories and subcategories, so you know which products go into which category.
In addition, you can also plan the URL structure, by using the main target keyword of the page, as the URL.

6. Go through all of the target keywords of product pages and have copy-paste paste most relevant products you can find active in Google Shopping/Amazon, then send all those URLs to 2-3 suppliers for them to check availability / source products.
Try to dropship at the start, then potentially look into private labelling down the line if the numbers add up.

7. Build out the website with ON-Page SEO in mind, use the target keywords as meta titles and use the URLs you planned out earlier.
Add all of the collections into the header menu for more link power, so they rank faster and remember to optimize the homepage for your biggest keyword. Google wants you to sell relevant stuff. If you own Wine Coolers . com - you have a VERY high chance of ranking for the keyword “wine coolers”, just because you have the best domain, even if your domain authority is MUCH lower than the one of your competitors.

8. Set up the tracking & Google Feed properly with all of the necessary data, so you don’t have any errors in the Google Feed, then set up your Google ad campaigns.

9. Prioritize getting as many reviews as possible from the first few sales. and offer the best possible customer service.

Initially focus on building up the brand, trust, loyalty and reviews, which you can leverage and turn into more sales.

10. Continue building out SEO by focusing on building out the content/informational pages & building some high-authority backlinks.
Keep in mind with an exact match domain, perfectly optimized collection pages and great results from Google Ads, it likely won’t take much to get to page 1. Once you start doing well, double down on SEO and get your pages ranked in the top 3 positions, which is where you’ll really be able to get a lot of that high-intent and high-converting traffic.

It's just great.
I stepped into this industry in a haphazard manner and am now very passive. I think it's time to reboot my entrepreneurial journey with your thinking, thanks again for sharing.

Sounds great, will try when it's time to get in to that bracket.

What's your budget, so that you can reach $100k in 90 days? People who will read your post will have maybe $2k to invest. Some will have $10k

What would you expect with $2k? Or $10k?

To be successful in anything you need to have time, skills and money.

You trade skills for money. The more skills you have the less money you need.

If you dont have the time to go all in, it will take you longer or you will need to pay people to do it for you quicker.

So, depending on your skill and time levels you could do it for $2000 or it may require $10,000 or even more. It is different for everyone.

Thanks for the method, But how would you rank in 90 days, seo takes atleast 6-8 months to even rank. Typically talking Ofcourse

May I ask what you mean by: seo takes atleast 6-8 months to even rank. specifically?

Ultimately it will boil down to the level of competition and the quality of your article.

@GringoMonkey Hey, I've been trying to figure out what types of keywords should I be aiming for? I'm finding products that are sold for $200 AOV (Some are packs together) but the keywords are well known brand names and of course they are over the $0.20 CPC

I'll give you some things I've found and I would like for you to tell me exactly I should be looking for so I can build a catalog of data and then go through it later to pick out what I would be most interested in selling or trying out.

Please critic my data so I can perform better.

My end goal is to build a shopify store around a single product and dropship/private label and survive off Google then maybe try Amazon later.

Until you have your own brand you will need to focus on non-branded keywords.

When you get your own branded products you can also create comparision pages with branded ones.
