Hi guys. One might want to begin with introducing themselves... well, I used to be an internet marketer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee and became a community manager of sorts. Then I kind of I lost my job, my creditors took everything I had and, having no money whatsoever, I now live in a cardboard box while leeching les internets magnificents from the great and evil McDonald's (and, yeah, I also rummage through their trash every other day to find some high-calorie treats). But, you know, I've been in the industry for quite a while now and seeing that there's lots of really cool people around on this here forum, I decided to share one pretty straightforward method of getting some extra exposure on Twitter. Quite a silly one at that - but it works, though the results largely depend on your niche.
Now, I must say I've began my adventures with Twitter only recently and some of you might already be familiar with what I suggest, but I've never seen it mentioned here and it's really, really simple...

    Behold, here's the method:

    1. Register with IFTTT (Zapier or a similar service might also work) or create/buy a bot with the capability of adding people to Twitter lists.

    2. Set up your tool to find people by the hashtag (related to your niche) they mention and add them to a Twitter list.
2a. If using IFTTT (or maybe Zapier) you can use some ready-made recipes = very simple setup.
2b. If using a self-made bot you can harness the full power of Twitter advanced search = even more precise targeting, not limited to mere hashtags.

    3. Run the service/bot of your choice in the background (could mean a VPS in the case of a bot).

    4. Go back to step 2. and create more automated lists. Then create some more. And then some more.

    5. Your Twitter account should have a number of lists that are organically growing with time without your attention.

    6. Now the cool part. Every account added to a list will get a notification of being added to a list.
6a. They will then view your profile (and possibly your website) = possible engagement, if your content is good enough.
6b. They will then subscribe to your list = quality engagement, engage it back.
6c. They will then thank you for adding them to your list with a tweet = quality engagement, engage it back.
6d. They will then spontaneously follow you = quality engagement, engage it back.
6e. They will then block you and/or add you to a silly 'blacklist' of their own, in which case you should block them and unblock them afterwards (removes you from their lists) = some antisocial dimwit who'd never buy anything from you anyway.
    6f. They will give no **** about what you're doing = don't give a **** either.

    7. Profit!

But wait, before you head on to try this one out, here are a few caveats:
    1. Some dingbats might hate you for adding them to a spammy list. Like, really hate you. You can always block them, though.
    2. I've been using this method for a while now without any outstanding issues. Nonetheless, if you use it, you're doing this at your own risk. It might be risky if you overdo it. So, keep a low profile. If you get your 1M follower account banned, don't blame me. Try to start small, instead.
    3. Twitter has a maximum number of list members. If I recall correct, this'd be 5k. You'll need to purge your lists once they reach their capacity, unless your bot can do it on its own.
    4. Services like IFTTT and Zapier are notoriously unreliable. Still, it should not be a problem in this case, as you're basically using them just to get some free organic traffic.

Okay, that'd be it. Enjoy! If you want to buy me a coffee or a beer, or need my help in any venture, feel free to get in touch as I'm kind of starving to death right now and on the lookout for new opportunities of getting a dollar... a dollar, dollar, a dollar is all I need... Don't you know the song? That's a jolly good one by Aloe Blacc. But you might want to listen to I'm not rich by Blacko instead. More positive energy in that one. Useful when trying out new things. I'm not rich... but I live like a millionaire. Uh-huh. Oh well. In any case, if you can think of any twists or have some other interesting ideas to develop this method further, go ahead and share. The folks will appreciate it if you share. So, do share. Sharing is shagging!

Like abhi007 said, there are websites to facilitate this, e.g. Hashtagify. I recommend that you figure out a few natural hashtags (what comes to your mind when you think of your niche) on your own and then use the site to find related popular hashtags. This will speed up your search and also keep your results relevant.

A twist: if you know of any Twitter chats that are related to your niche, you can use this same method to collect all their participants (they will mention that specific chat's characteristic hashtag). Needless to say, Twitter chat participants are typically very active and engaged users who are likely to interact with you.
