I have a website that I would like to restructure a bit. I have two pages that are pretty similar and I am thinking about merging the content into one page, and possibly placing that content on a completely new page. (merge page A with page B and place content into page C, which doesn't exist yet). The site is about 10 years old and has links pointing to both pages. Obviously I wnat to retain as much link juice from these pages when placing the content in the new pages, also don't want links pointing to broken pages or losing traffic from pages that don't exist.

I would like to know what you guys think is the best way to handle this situation. 301 redirect?

I think you've already answered your question.
