Everything in marketing is a variable except one fundamental thing. Anything that draws the attention of a user for a moment is a marketing opportunity. If you understand it, you can understand 90% of the trends in marketing. Let it be the hot girls in a car advertisement, adventures for a pizza, fight for a chocolate or a race for a soft drink. In majority of the cases, the product and the theme of the advertisement are not even close. But it mostly works because it draws attention and makes the user glance at it for a moment. This element of marketing never changed over decades or may be centuries.

Everyone advises us to see ahead of the curve but we can't study the current trends until they become popular, particularly in a vast subject like marketing. Viral Marketing is an already popular trend which is used by many brands. The companies promote their products or services using appealing, engaging, and fast-spreading content through social media platforms. The users can't resist their urge to interact with and share the content. There is a segment of viral marketing which is trending but not yet popular.

I'm pretty sure all of you saw one meme or another and they are all over the internet. It doesn't mean that they are popular in all niches. Majority of the meme pages and channels are dedicated to entertainment industry where there is a constant supply of content for creating memes. But there are tons of other niches where there are insignificant amount of meme pages.

Have you ever seen a entrepreneurship meme page? Or a weight loss meme video channel on YouTube? These are very rare and the algorithms of social media and youtube hides them from marketers like us (mostly because we do general research). There are many niche meme pages hidden in plain sight. Some are growing millions of followers yet most of us just ignore them.

The biggest advantage we have with meme pages is that they are addictive in comparison to regular info pages. Another advantage is that we can promote products based on interest of the users instead of reviews & testimonials. For example, we can promote weight loss products with Disney princess memes, cat food with Fast & Furious memes, baby products with Marvel memes, Money manifestation product with Breaking Bad memes etc.

The users feel a connection and quickly connect to your products. Memes can get away with copyright infringement as they are under fair use policies. Find opportunities in your niche before it's too late. Memes are the future but don't blame me if it doesn't work for you.

You can get meme templates here
https://imgflip.com/memetemplates
I'd suggest you to create your own templates for your target audience. Here are some tips for creating memes:
  • Meme types: You can create memes using photos, screenshots, gifs, and videos. You should experiment a little to find what suits you better.
  • Fonts: Montserrat or Helvetica Neue are the standard meme fonts but you can use Arial, Comic Sans, and others depending on context.
  • Style: Consider using emojis, rounded corners, and embedded text. These visual elements appeal to most users.
Now start creating memes

You are right on point. But meme marketing is nothing new, and it's here since years. There may be hundreds of meme pages in IG with more than 1M followers.

Even Elon agreed it long back.

But it is not for everyone. If you know you know.

Yes, meme pages are popular and a lot of people are already using them. But I recently saw some unconventional niches making money using meme marketing. I'm sure a lot of members didn't realize their potential yet. This thread should create some awareness as there is not much discussion about meme marketing on BHW.

Most people on instagram are doing memes just for fun or just to sell cheap shoutouts. But the engagement on meme content is top notch, no wonder bigger brands are moving towards meme posts. Great thread.

Yes, people engage with memes regardless of context because of their entertainment value. There are great guides about creating & growing meme pages in IG.

just because people are not discussing does not mean they are not using.. you know what i mean... competition

Nice share @Pavan Teja 1, Interesting big company using memes to create funny and viral marketing which can be used to promote their product also without being salesy like what Fashion Nova did

I saw a lot of niches which are not using memes yet. Even the popular ones like weight loss & MMO are not into it as much as they are using other methods. I have seen some amazing techniques applied by them to engage users.
