Membership site uses IP as sign-in???

Hi all!

I have a question for all you coding geniuses (and there are quite a few on here judging from the number of posts that I have to go to the books to understand!)

I was checking out this thread in Member Downloads:
Code:
http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/member-downloads/37712-get-billions-grant-money.html

To make it a little easier, here's the member area (use a proxy):

Code:
http://www.unclesamsmoney.com/access_new/member.html

OK, here's the question: How can this membership site use a person's IP address as the member's sign-in/password?? Doesn't your IP change, except when you are on a static IP, like a cable internet connection?? Is this something new or just something that I haven't run across before??

If this is the wrong forum to post this in, I apologize, but I thought the BH'ers in here would know, if anyone would.

Thanks for any insight!

(And, by the way, since I'm behind a proxy, there is nothing showing in the site's IP box, and I'm locked out of any of the site's links!)

Again, thanks! :)

By a short look: that site looks like a typical scam project.
I have no idea what this IP crap should mean, it's simply stupid.

And you are right, usually a IP changes all the time.
But actually: if you just need an IP to access the links, well everyone got an IP.

The whole page looks like a scam project by a young hobby web designer that will not lead to any money

p.s. if you use a proxy then you still got an IP, that's why you use a proxy ^^
You probably used a web proxy which fucked up the javascript on their site, that's why the box was empty.

Thanks for your reply!

You are right about my using a web proxy. For the limited use that I need it for right now, it does what I need and best of all, its free!:D

I don't think its a scam site, though. It has paid ads in Goog and if you go to the website (don't need a proxy for this)
Code:
http://www.unclesamsmoney.com/
its a standard sales page for access (and of course the free bonuses:rolleyes:) for $40, so I don't think it just a hobby site.

But I'd really like to know how they track your "membership" access with just an IP tracker.

Any other thoughts??:)
