    Hello fellas,

I have a good fashion related domain and would like to utilize it. I'm confused between social media site and membership site. The domain is something like showcasing the new talents in the world of fashion and glamour and also about the new trends. I would like to offer featured listings once the site starts gaining popularity. So what would you people recommend social media site for models/designers and fashion people or some kind of membership site.

Also, people suggest me some useful, affordable and easy to handle scripts/applications that I can use to build your suggested site.

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: Mods I'm sorry if I have posted this in a wrong sub-forum.

    Thanks in advance.

Social media, get a custom coded script to fit all your needs and you are good to go, membership sites are good for other kind of sites not for you.

Thanks, what would a good coder charge for a custom script with basic features like chat and types like that. If you have any idea, let me know.

You can try oDesk as well, if you want.

Have a look at Dolphin (boonex.com - dating script) or JOMSocial (Joomla based Social Networking site) for alternatives to getting a programmer.

You can always have a programmer "adjust" the things you don't like about these scripts but they are pretty much ready-set-go for social networking/membership community sites.

I'm using dolphin now, even though 6 years ago I used it and nearly pulled my hair out.. it's improved heaps. The forum is useless though - you need a tech brain - adjusting it to your needs is not for newbies.

Jomsocial would probably be the better place to go if you need help adjusting things yourself.

I'm personally going to "risk" using Dolphin and just pay someone to make modifications as I go, been using it for 2 months now and feel pretty comfortable with everything except adjusting the backend code which is a little bit all over the place.
