Hello all, I am seeking a small investment for my membership site which is set to launch October 5th. It targets non-traditional college students, including those who are seeking an online degree as well as older students looking to jump-start their degree.

    So far, I've completed:

    • Site architecture
    • Site Design
    • Membership and Affiliate setup
    • Full site testing
    • Legal Documents for the site
    I also have:

    • Most of the content. The content is huge, with a lot of technical data, and required input from colleges. This is virtually all complete, and I can give details on specific types of content if requested.
    • I have a budding list, which has been very responsive to answering polls on the content they would like to see, price point, and demographics.
    • Data on price, demographic.
    • Incoming links trickling in.
    • LLC paperwork in-process.
    • Connections with schools, students, and niche-specific forums.
The site setup is front-end and back-end sales, with affiliates getting 50%-75% of the recurring membership price and none off the backend.

The investment I am seeking is $160, which will give you 25% of net profits for the next 6 months, with at least your investment back if the site is a flop (whichever is higher). I don't expect an investor to provide any ongoing support or payment.

    Why Invest?
I've created membership sites for clients in the past, and know what I am doing. I've also spent about a thousand dollars of my own money to get this project off the ground.

Why do I need the money?
Unfortunately, after spending a lot of time and money on building the site up, I am in a tricky position. With no money coming in until October, I need to pay an extra fee to re-up my domain name (totaling about $100), and this is very time-sensitive. The other $60 will be spent on promotional activity to make up for the site being down for two weeks.

This situation is verifiable, and I am happy to discuss it further with interested parties.

What is an honest expectation of potential profits over the 6 months? What would be the expected return on the $160 investment?

Within 6 months, I expect to profit at least $4'000 USD total. 25% of that would be $1k, so your net profit would be $840 counting your investment (or 525% ROI). Of course my goal is north of that, but I don't want to promise too much since I haven't launched yet.

Bare minimum, you'd get your money back even if I had to pay you out of pocket.

How come a domain renewal cost 100$ ? That's very unusual. What makes you think that you can pocket 4000$ in six months when you couldnt make any money for a whole year? Can you explain please?

Mr Ex am agree with you.

It's 100% fake. Where did you register your domain, I want to know the com name, because they are charging $100 for renewal. And after completing successful business you need investor for $160 , it's so funny. :D

Not to be a prick, be you seem to have a few details confused. If a domain passes expiration, you're going to get charged an extra $80 in ICANN fees on top of full-price renewal. In my case, that's $14.99+$80 for the .Org. I'll let you add that up.

The site does make money, but I'm completely changing the business model. That's the whole point.

Don't get confused here, this was all about timing and not wanting my high-yield domain to fall into competitor hands. And if it did, it would cost me substantially more than the $1k I'd be giving up in a JV in order to get it back.

At any rate, it's been settled without a JV, so I'm closing the offer.

The site was successful before this, but the business model is changing from free info to membership site. Pretty stable list, not a lot of unsubs even with news of the change.

Obviously, changing a business model completely changes how a site makes money. Why would anyone JV with someone who's like "oh, well the site makes xxx/monthly, and that should still matter after I change the model." That's nutty.

hmm... do you still need a domain? I have one which is in the education niche which is very valuable and would be beneficial for your membership site.

    PM me if interested.
