Members Download Rules

It seems there is an increasing amount of downloads that are containing viruses!

I think that rules of the section should be something like. Members offering downloads should virus check first using an online agragatted virus checker and post link to results before sharing. Members that post files with viruses should be banned!

A good community is built around trust and friendship...... So if you was giving your friend a sandwich from the shop you would check the sell my date first to make sure it was good as you dont want to make him ill!! So look at it as We are your friend, the sandwich is the software and you dont want to make our compters ill with a Virus

I agree with some of your suggestions. I've all but quit downloading from here, unless it's a .pdf, out of fear of the unknown.

also check the posters rating and post count. never download from a nob. i dot and never will. dont care wot it is. and plus i dont download from here nowadays anyways cos yeh u get peeps joiining to share their viruses.

Dan08, although I agree with your reasoning and I take very much the saem stance when it comes to the credibility of the member. It think someone should take control of the situation now otherwise it will end up a total nightmare.

Yes, that was an obvious problem likely to arise. Viruses are spread through means in which they can reach a large audience that is unsuspecting.

I see people with 30 posts posting exe files. Don't download it! Even be wary of people with 1,000+ posts, not because they are trying to infect you intentionally, but a lot of files are leeched from other sources e.g. torrents so you don't know whats in them.

Have you ever heard of [FUD]? If it is [FUD], scanning the file through virustotal or whatever antivirus company you are using is not going to detect it. Believe it or not, some viruses are undetectable. :yield:

Long story short, download exe's at your own risk and ask yourself, "Is risking my computer's integrity for this program worth it? Is it sure to make me moniez?"

I don't know about you but I'm content with videos and pdf's.

User has obviously had his post count nulled before, and not spreading unchecked, virus ridden software.
