Is there any REAL data from Google and such which states that a .com is better then .me/.net/.org/.ca for ranking?

Because even if you have like .in or something, I'm sure you can rank it #1, and you'll get 40% of the clicks, and if you rank it #2 and #3, you'll get 60%+ of the clicks for that keyword, no?

So my question is

What is better?

keyword1.me vs keyword1.com ?

If .com, why? (Besides it being "more recognizable")

there are about 3,000,000 threads on this here and throughout the rest of the internet. use your search bar. that being said, the answer is .com, not only for google but for branding.

You've got to understand, it's not just Google that plays into this, exclusively.

Most consumers recognize .com as 'safe' or at the least legitamite. So when Google tracks consumers, .me, .net, .org, .ca most likely have bigger bounce rate and less time spent on the site average vs. it's .com's average.

how many .com/.net sites do you see in your average search in g? almost all the results on the first page/all the results on the first page? (on average)

how many .me's? (on average)
0

Yes, BUT!
How many years was a .com domain availavble? Since it became public, and then all domain sites grabbed it.

How many years ago did .me come in?

... I think it was what? like 8 months? if that...

@SpellZ
i agree with you there, but personally I would take a crappier .com/.net over an exact match .me/.mobi/.tv/.biz/.info/.whatever

it has a lot to do with peoples perception and understanding of the web, people are familiar with .com

Last year i only had .com's and .net's about 50 domains, but i needed a domain for my new keyword project and they was all taken, was gutted it always happens you do the work only to find the domain has been taken

So i tho fook it il buy the .biz got this indexed first day did a very little work SEO on site and linked to my pr8 site like i always do in 2 days i was number 8 in g00gle

The .biz now is ranked number 3

Since then ive not botherd about the end .whatever all my sites are all in top10 and this is like 100+
