MC117 & MC999 Your eBay account has been suspended. Why, how?

I've had my both accounts closed. Trying to figure out what caused it and how to avoid a repeat of this in the future.
I had main account for 1 year. 400+ feedback 99.9% positive and in good standing order.
Decided to open a second account under the same name and after listing a used baby toy i got suspended. What triggered suspension? Surely not a used baby toy?
I?ve used exactly the same details as my main account, real address ect..
I did use call forwarding service (soho66) to open both accounts. Can ebay now tell if you use this service?
My second user ID contained DVD within username. Did this raise a flag? and if it did so what? I wasn't selling anything dodgy.

eBay will not tell what caused a suspension, probably just in case their technique is shared on this forum.

    Replies from ebay below.

Any ideas what triggered flags and suspension?

    Dear xxx,

Your account has been suspended because recent account activity has raised serious concerns. We've taken this precaution to protect our members and the eBay community.

Due to the suspension, you won't be able to use your eBay account in any way. This includes using another existing account or registering a new account.

Any outstanding selling fees will be due immediately, and any amounts that you haven't previously disputed will be charged to the billing method currently on file.

    We appreciate your understanding.

    Regards,

    eBay

    Hello xxx,

Thanks for your reply. I understand your confusion as to why we suspended your account, please allow me to further clarify this matter to you.

I've made a thorough review on your account 'xxx' and I can see it was suspended due to discrepancies in your registration information and concerns about the items you were listing. Please understand that we reserve the right to suspend a member's account and ask for further information if we have caused for concern.

Please understand that it's also in our policy never to share exactly what gave us the reason to suspend and account as this could tell a fraudulent member how to avoid suspension in the future.

Rest assured that we are not accusing you of fraudulent behaviour. It's our top priority to ensure that eBay remains a safe and reputable place to buy and sell.

Upon further review on your account, I'm sorry to inform you but we will not be reinstating your account. The suspension placed on it will be for an indefinite time.

Moving forward, as your account is suspended, you won't be able to buy or sell on eBay or register a new account. Opening a new account may lead to it being suspended.

Why did you decide to open a second account with the exact same name? If it was a different name, you could have called and said that it's your brother's account.

Anyways, call them and explain your intentions with the 2nd account, and if you are lucky, you'll get your 1st account reinstated.

They told you it's due to dodgy registration information and the stuff you've been listing, I'm not sure why you're confused?

This was stealth accounts btw. I still have my real one and a couple other stealth ones. Under another name, I have 5 accounts linked to one PayPal account and all share the same info. They've been running for 3 years with some an odd issue but all been good for over a year. My issue that you are allowed to have multiple accounts. I wanted to make one as a business account and have one personal so I opened another personal account to separate things I sell. As soon as I listed a toy for sale on my new account, it got suspended and 3 hours later the other one as well. Something triggered red flag. Address used was real, different email address, same name. As far as I know I didn't break any registration rules. How come first account was OK for over a year. It had over 2000 items limit or £5,000. I think it was to do with Soho66. I've used different phone number. Would two different phone numbers under the same address be an issue? But then again people do have two lines sometimes, specially if one of them is a business line. Is soho66 still ok for ebay?

eBay is very careful when dealing with new accounts and especially when they list something as soon as the account is created. Give them a call and try to work things out
