I'm in the hospital for at least another couple weeks. My girlfriend and I had a chat about our finances while (and after) I recover. She has a small cleaning company for the last few years, recently throwing up a website.

I literally have nothing else to do from the hospital bed, she snuck in a pot brownie for me during visiting hours, so I really gotta return the favor. I'm going to make this my project until Friday. Hospital Distraction Project #2: Improve GF's business!

Here's what I know and what I'm starting with:
URL: BLOOPCLEAN.US in LA (good market! I thought the .us was a weird domain, but it works.)

    • Site has like 0 SEO, yet generates a 3 new bookings weekly (mostly word of mouth)
    • Really straight forward booking system that doesn't require the customer to do much other than book an appointment time for their cleaning service, leave an address, phone number, pay for service, and that's it.
    • A few regular customers.
I suggested buying lead lists like I do, but I have doubts that she has either the time or energy to deal with nursing leads like I do. She created and maintains the site on her own, so that's not an issue.

My goals between now and Friday are:
    • Figure out that processes can be automated for her, how to automate them
    • Figure out how to "fill in the gaps" -- basically book appointments on days where she's got only like 1 or 2 appointments on the calendar.
    • Get an instagram going for her biz (do you register it as a business or personal insta? is there a difference?)
Did some basic research on her competition. There's a lot. But not many companies that seem especially aggressive SEO-wise in this market.

Any insights are good insights with this one.
*edit - removed actual domain name

Wouldn't put the url out there bro, lots of creeps that will destroy your site with spam links or negative reviews just to fuck with you.

    1) She's a keeper

    2) Don't publish your domain name. Still, great name, easy to brand.

    3) 99% focus on Google local, get the address verified and your maps/business listing perfect. This will already drive in business

    4) After you get the Google business listing down, time for a FB business listing. Get it perfect.

    5) Linked in listing, get it neat.

    6) Link all the above social presences to the new site, and on the new site, add verification tags to make sure your social ID for local business is verified.

By the time you get the above done (should be one work day, especially if you're grounded) you should have a solid starting point for a good local business listing.

    Thanks for the good word!

Quite literally -- I am going to take the next few hours to knock out EVERYTHING on that list.

I have a question though -- she doesn't have a storefront/office. She runs the biz from her apartment. Is this going to be a problem for these Google Local/FB?

Legally is there any issue with her running the biz from home? I mean, can it be publicized?

Maybe for the sake of privacy you should set up a PO Box or some virtual office address??

Anyway if she doesn't mind her address out there and theres legally no problem (some places you can't have a biz in a residential place) then go for it. But I'd ask her first.

The laws here don't prohibit running it from home, since the "Services" of the business are rendered at the client's location. Its more of a privacy thing. A PO box is a better solution, I think.

    Rando update:
Got the Google Local going for the business.
Registered an instagram account for it. Doing a LinkedIN account for her as well.
She said shes already got a Google Webmasters account, so this the site should have been verified through Google's systems.

    Goal: getting there!
