"Black Hat SEO is getting a little more malicious. In a world where Black Hat is moving towards really illegal things as an SEO you have to decide your risk tolerance and do I really want to try to compete with people who are doing illegal stuff or do I want to make a long term site that's gonna stand the test of time." Matt Cutts

You should read the whole article about:

Sounds like a bunch of blown smoke to me. That G00gle does not like BH SEO is no surprise, but attempting to paint all BH as criminal is just Cu77s way of indulging a bit of delusional fantasy. As long as there are algorithms running search engines, there will be people looking to game those algorithms, and short of government collusion with the search engines, it will never be illegal to simply try to game the algorithms.

It's probably getting too much attention now and actually making Google work, so they're trying to scare some people out of it now....ah well... who it affects... less competition for me :) There's nothing illegal about it.

Yeah. Also, I think that it is up to those of us who make a distinction between breaking the law, and merely annoying our would be corporate overlords, to not allow them to lump us (black hatters) in with the outright bandits and fraudsters out there.

Sure, there will always be an overlap, but lumping us all together is slander in broad strokes, and we should not tolerate it.

For the most part I am very white hat, but I do get a little gray from time to time. I am inspired by the things done here and discussed. I like to take those tactics and figure out if there is a way to clean them up a bit.

I see most of the black hatters as innovative - not law breakers. There are some darn good people in here.

What is illegal in giving the big G what it is looking for at the moment? And creating the best way to do that?

It is a dog eat dog web out there.

We have a right to do what we can to get to the top, and G has a right to change the algos or ban specific sites as they see fit.

I TOTALLY AGREE!

There is any extremely fine line between White / Black Hat,
the same is defined with Genius / Mental Retardation.:yield:
I find this Forum EXTREMELY innovative, and Yes, at time bordering Questionable! But, it is an Individuals' interpretation. But on the Most part, The Guys/Girls in this Forum are Extremely Experimental and Think outside the BOX..
So with Accusations and Innuendos' from the likes Of CUTTS.

He might want to refrain from his Opinions?
