After a study was done showing that Google's search result pages were showing more ads than actual results (thus being completely hypocritical considering past statements where Google has talked about how they penalize sites with excessive ads) Matt Cutts responded by saying that he thought ads were often more relevant than organic results:

I guess their Penguin update didn't really help with user experience that much...

I think we are nearing a new world of PPC,
and Google has been into these kind of BH Tactics lately.

google has become self aware like skynet. The engineers at best just try to tame the beast.

Yeah and I am already done with SEO for good :)

There are many better things out there. SEO is spamming I mean how come I wasted my time for it lol.

    Cheers.

It's pretty simple what their plan is:

    - use the Penguin update to make the SERP's all irrelevant to the search queries so people find the ads are more helpful in most cases (they just get conditioned to it) because the search results are just shit. now, more people click on ads, more adwords money gets eaten up, and the more money Google makes -- which they don't have to pay to AdSense publishers btw because its in THEIR search results.

Well, that's why they released numerous animal algo updates lately.

They're 'forcing' people to pay for their ads instead of SEO :p

Google is conditioning the organic results to paid. Not too long from now, ALL of page 1 will be paid and page 2 will be the new organic page 1.

I would say, if Adwords are more relevant than organic, Matt isn't doing his job and should be fired.

Or perhaps, he is doing his job, so Adwords rules the front page.

    No... That's not the case.

There will still be a lot of BH people dominating the serps.

Its just a percentage that's leaving SEO for better things than it.

    Cheers.

Yahoo is powered by Bing and will be until 2019. They have a 10 year search deal with Yahoo.

Deals can be amended -- if Yahoo did a 10-year deal they are crazy -- do you have a source for that?

If matt says that ads are more useful then organic results that means... they want to push their adwords ads on TOP positions so that they can easily charge the big companies for advertisements and getting more bigger then what they are right now!

If organic search isn't useful that much than i guess there should be a new search engine evolution in coming days to beat google's paid search listings and giving more better search results which are organic!!

If google thinks that ppc ads are more relavant than organic search then the small companies who don't invest into ppc will be nowhere getting business from search engines!!!!

Yes.. thats true.. if you know how to get traffic from other sources then there is no need of relying on google. even i started to do the same before one month.. trying to get traffic from social media, email marketing, forum promotions, videos etc to gain traffic.
