A week or so ago, Danny Sullivan from Search Engine Land, Matt Cutts from Google and Duane Forrester from Bing held a very popular panel at SXSW.

As usual, it as as vague as Google itself :(

Google will start soon sending message in your GWT..Google has detected 'unnatural content' on your website which G bot can't understand :)

This is a lot more serious than you guys realize. Do you use alt tags as keywords or to describe the image? Do your header tags all have your keywords in some form or do they relate to the subsequent paragraph? Again, devaluing backlinks.

    This is huge.

surely if a site is 'over optimized' it's not really optimized at all!

Would setting up ALT tags with your keywords over optimizing?

So what, they're going to start penalizing people for properly building web sites according to web standards now?

It is going to wipe out a lot of sites.

They just do not want to give crappy sites higher serps because they dotted all their I's and crossed all their T's

They want to give higher serps because they have great content and not because they overoptimized.

    I personally do not overoptimize.
I try to make the site great... I want the visitor to come back because of what they saw, not because I was the first on the search.

Another reason to delete your GWT account.

Wonder how Google can track your every move? Between the toolbar, analytics, webmaster tools accounts, +, etc., many are giving Google all the info they need to perform slaps. Delete that Google shit already and search Google through a proxy!!!

Typical G cant and never will leave things alone will always be harassing and screwing people over. I think G should take a step back and remember their humble beginning and with that remember that they are constantly fucking with the people that made them the rich ungrateful fucks they are.

Constant scare tactics from G. Their search engine is flawed and we beat it all the time. They're pissed that aggressive SEO can get ANY website at the top of their serps and they can't find away of stopping it. One minute they tell you to make sure you optimize your site so that it has it's titles, alt tags, keywords and plenty of good content. Now we do that and it's hey you guys are doing it too well. We're gonna penalize you now cos we see the same sites dominating again.

You can't beat us G man!!!!

As I said in my initial post, it is a very vague statement. Every SEO has its own definition of óver optimization, which may or may not agree what G considers as over optimization.

I have read quite a few blogs giving their own theories about óver optimization like having too much content in footer is over optimization, having too many H1 tags is over optimization etc.

I think we need to wait and see and make sure our content is unique and good quality.
