So just out of curiosity has anyone here used the disavow system ? does it list every back link to your site or you have to do the search yourself ?

I know that there are tools to do this but I meant if Google is providing means to show you the links that are being back linked to your site or so

Unfortunately 80% of people with web sites will not even know about the disavow system. So the negative SEO will hugely effect them regardless.

Good system on Googles part though.

We have to harvest our low quality backlinks and then we have to paste those links over there in the tool. Finally, a reconsideration request!

So Google prevents people/sites from harvesting them as per their TOS, which makes things harder for us on legit service to provide this information or applications to find back links and yet demands us to spit out the links to it in order to disavow what we think that is potentially hurting our sites...

That doesn't make much sense they should at least be smart enough to provide us with a list of the given back links so we could just select out of that list the ones related to the issue.

But then again I believe that would provide more issues to Google then to us lol.

Even larger sites should have a tough time fending off negative seo. Many larger sites build many backlinks per month and already have so many backlinks that it would be hard to disavow based by when backlinks were made.

I would love to test this on a competitor who is a sh*t head.

Maybe the best way of doing this and working is to start small and snowball or to try to mirror his campaign and make a really sh*tty one for him lol.

I have used the disavow. It can be found in webmaster tools. You can find your backlinks in webmaster tools. It will not list every link to your site. I found it confusing using disavow since the links still appear for my site. I submit the disavow request a while ago and they are still there (200k+)

The disavow tool does absolutely nothing... Google only treats the links as nofollow, but since most of the links that will damage your site will probably be nofollow in the first place...

Honestly, only idiots use the disavow tool. It will not help your site at all.

Only your opinion. I used it, and have seen increase in rankings.
Guess it depends on the circumstances.

So if you're in a competitive niche, one that actually makes money, if your competitor hits you with an xrumer or senuke blast in order to take your spot, don't worry, because while you're losing your a$$, all you have to do is go through all the links they placed (if you can find them) and disavow them. Seems like Google could just devalue them in the first place instead of hitting you with a penalty & making you figure out which ones are bad. I'm just sayin'

They amount of disavow requests went from a few hundred to multiple millions in like a month.

negative seo works, because "duh," and there is absolutely nothing that can be done to stop it.

    Good luck

Are you, absolutely, with 100% certainty, positive it was because of the disavow tool?

I would bet on simply a small update occurring (there have been many in the last several months), unless the changes were massive.

Google will not restore your rankings by using the disavow tool... no one has ever had this happen.

I believe google's totally heading the wrong way with their stupid algorithm. Site owners have no control over negative SEO and they would be easily knocked out by competitors using automated tools posting spammy links. And Google expect site owners to check their unnatural links and then report them back to google by diavow tools? What a waste of time and money to everybody!! How about instead of penalizing just ignoring those spammy links? I just can't believe that google still didn't figure out how stupid their idea is...
Lucky they are dominating the search engine market, or they would be out of business very soon.

This was talked about months ago here(I am not new I was cloakndagger til I lost my password and the email account got deleted so can't get new password)funny how months ago google said it wasn't an issue.Neg seo involves more than just knocking the site off it goes into getting bad reviews on the first page etc.It will cost some businesses big money to sort out, some may even try legal action against google in time.Thing is if they left all the link building as it was people would be focusing on their own sites instead of competitors.I wouldn't trust anything google either, the disavow tool is simply a data harvester not necessarily to be used as you think.

When will people stop listening to what Google says? They are not going to tell you how to game their algorithm.

Split test everything. Trial and error is your friend.

A new tool to disavow links - Looks like a promising tool. I'll definitely give it a shot on my penalized site and keep you posted.
