A little update...They also just had a 5.9 and 5.6 aftershocks. No real news coming out due to communications being down.... CNN seems to have the best coverage....

My prayers go out to those who are suffering. God works in mysterious ways, sometimes you simply wonder. Hundreds of thousands dead, 1/3 of building collapsed. Send aid if you can, some of us are capable of a little help. We should all do our part, we are still human.

@digzober - yes, we can help - every little bit counts. Times are tough, the US economy blows dead bear, but even 1 or 5 dollars can help.

One group that I have been familiar with and know to be reputable, they are helping out right now, is Doctors without Borders:

    http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org

They do great work, I'm sure there are other charities that could use help for Haitian relief, but this group does great work.

    peace,
    gregs.

They are going to need massive foreign help because that country does not function very well, with very few hospitals, many of them destroyed, their firefighting equipment is also small, etc. My prayers to all.

Yeah I just turned off the TV cuz when I do watch TV, it's almost always one of the cable news channels....I got choked up too just hearing about what's going on down there - the Catholic Archbishop of Port-Au-Prince is dead, at least 14 UN employees are too and they can't find 150 others, the presidential building is destroyed, and on it goes - horrible horrible disaster.

Say a prayer today if you're not there, and if you have any $$$ give a few to a charity there. Any little bit will help, it's a poverty-ridden country to begin with, and every little bit adds up. And for God's sake don't monetize this disaster. I've already heard of a few scams related to it, and that's not blackhat, that's evil.

    peace,
    gregs.

Doctors without borders is a fantastic group. Right now my small family is greatful for everything we have, but when tradegies like this happen we are even more so.

You will find a handy "donate now" button just below the Haiti picture on the Doctors without boarders site.

A member I know on here is actually in the Dominican Republic right now... for all of you who failed geography, Haiti and the Dominican Republic share the same island, so you can be sure one of our own felt it!

The story is just awful. There are a couple of was to help but this is by far the easiest:

Send a $10 Donation by Texting ?Haiti? to 90999

Everyone should do it. There is absolutely no reason not to donate.

Sorry that yele.org sites looks like a SCAM.
No information about the site/where the money goes and the payment form isn't even https. It mentions wyclef on the side, but the site looks dodgy as.

I donated via red cross. You know they do some serious work in these areas. If your chosen sky god is of a different type, there is also red crescent http://www.ifrc.org/
