    anyone can help me with this? i'm planning to do one of 2 things:

    1) mass 301 my WHOLE website to a churn n burner. might be an interesting case study. 70+ pages worth of content and 100k++ backlinks

    2) 301 redirect to a different domain and redirect all the content page-by-page to a fresh url for all 70+ pages. not fun, a lot of work, but also a great case study. still deciding which route to take.

    i used the simple redirects plugin in the past, but it doesn't seem to pass link juice for some reason. what do you guys use? php redirect? javascript redirect? thanks for the help, guys!

    If you're using wordpress, just clone your website and put it on a new domain with wp clone. It's a free plugin, just search for it.

    Then find your .htaccess in your hosting panel for your old domain and edit it so it look like this to redirect the old domain to the new one.

    Code:
    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine on
    RedirectMatch permanent /.* http://www.yourdomain.com
    </IfModule>
    # END WordPress

    thanks for the code. seems like it redirects the homepage only. any code to redirect all individual pages/posts? like slappeddomain.com/randompage to fresh domain.com/randompage?

    No prob :)

    I usually just redirect all pages to the new site's home page when a site gets hit by a penalty, but im pretty sure that if you change

    RewriteRule .* http://www.yoursite.com/

    to

    RewriteRule .* http://www.yoursite.com/ [L,R=301]

    It should redirect all pages to their new matching pages.

    The redirects will only get you so far no matter how powerful they are. Don't forget to add some quality links to the new site as well! Talk again anyway :)

    If your existing site have penalty on it, you will need to get a new links on your new site. Existing links from your old site will just pass juice temporary

    Not true. I have sites that i have had penalized 2 years ago that i redirect to new sites all the time with no problems. I don't know where some people get this information from - Maybe if the site you're redirecting has had a manual penalty applied or has been deindexed, but i've never had a problem with it so far. But i've had sites rank for up to a year with this method, and the only thing that caused them to fall was a problem with the links they had and not the redirects.

    As there seems to be confusion, is homepage or entire site redirected, there's a helpful redirect-checker on "try" subdomain of "seoimage" site (sorry no links allowed for me yet)

    However, I don't know how to use it to check a list of URLs, e.g. from a file, as it's form data exchange is hidden - can anyone please advise a way to mass-check redirects?
