I have heard that i have to mask my affiliate links to not to reveal my site as a cheap affiliate site to search engines? When a bot crawls a site it follows the link as well.If i mask my link or not the bot will eventually end up on amazon...so what's the point?

You don't need to mask your amazon link for google. Cnet.com is full of amazon links and is on top of google for most products.
You might want to mask your amazon link for visitors who don't want to be sold.
