So, I'm about to retain a high profile Attorney in the Entertainment Industry I think most here know I'm a real Hip Hop head, but I love music in general.

I'm considering opening my own Management Company, pushing Itunes but I wanted to get some idea's from some of the great minds in here on marketing via Youtube, Facebook, Twitter etc

I mean I pretty much know how to effectively market using each platform but i love new ideas, new concepts so if anyone has time let's chop it up maybe I can offer a JV somewhere along the line, So here's a few questions.

    1. Do you think SEO will help push sales to a unknown independent artist?

    2. Do you think social networking platforms are relevant to music promo online "reason I'm asking is because there so much spam everyone is trying to sale u something"

    3. Do you give a rats ass about independent artist of any type of music

    4. How do u feel about compact disc is it even worth putting in the stores

    5. How do u feel about independent artist in general online? do u think the majority are bums and turn u off or do u give the average artist a chance.

    Thanks

I always come across old friends that are in bands that are actually pretty good and hip hop artists that aren't too bad but just don't know how to create a good image, so I have always thought of starting up something like you to hopefully help get them running. Services I think that could be offered are:

PR Imaging - Helping to create a marketable image

    Target Marketing
    - Helping them to find their target market, and then reaching them

    Network Management
    - Getting their name and music spread through networks

    Optimization
    - Which will just be stuff like SEO. You tell someone who doesn't use the internet about SEO they probably won't have an understand in how it relates to them.

    Technical Sales
    - Handling how to make money selling iTunes, of course which there is an affiliate market for.

    Pirate Insurance
    - Making sure their stuff isn't so easily downloaded on the internet for free.

    Basic Legal Assistance
    - Using stuff like Prepaid Legal, making them feel as though they have some sort of legal guidance.

    etc.

If you set up a site or something, I could say I work for it and begin doing offers, and we could figure out how to better monetize it rather than just through itunes affiliate sales.

My friend does social media planning for artists. Kid Cudi sold like crazy with very little traditional marketing and media exposure. And I mean I like when my favorite artists post on facebook and tweet. Online presence is still really undervalued in entertainment in my opinion. Really cheap way to go if you play it right.

I'm also in the music industry and just finished marketing myself to the billboards that had the billboard add me to artist search in their database and dedicate a whole page just for my artists and label. As well as getting digital distribution global, retail national.

It took me a good amount of networking planning, learning about all the legal ways I can use agreements to structure my company and artists so everything can organize itself from there.

Marketing was word of mouth, DJ networking, club network, live performances, broadcasting authorization on songs and working with radio promoters to get radio to spin songs, sound scan sales build up and using sound scan progress to get more clouts in negotiating with beneficial networks.
