in the past I've seen some threads where a person
might have dozens of sites, upwards of 50 to 100

they are making (per their threads) anywhere between
$1 to $10 per site or with some sites higher or much higher

So that cumulatively they are making some fair or very
    good income.......

wouldn't that involve a lot more work ??? rather than focusing
on a few sites, maybe 10 or less???

I'm trying to understand the benefit of having so many sites
and from what I understand they aren't mini sites...
I don't know the balance of whether they are single page
    sites, or multipage sites...

anyone know why so many is better than a handful or
    a couple of handfuls???

    thank you

    hali~:)

    1) More sites are safer. You are not putting all of your eggs in one basket.
    2) Separate sites appreciate in value quicker than just a single site (arguably)
    3) Owning a network of sites is very valuable (The bigger the network the more $)

There's nothing more foolish than spending all your effort on one site. It's rare, but Google can just take a disliking to your site and you may never know the reason. All your work - come to nothing.

Always have a backup plan - or better yet, 50 backup plans.

    It's just common sense.

The more sites, the more stable your income. If you are serious about making a full time
living, you MUST have multiple sites. Without this you are far too vunerable to G and
    competition.

i would still rather manage 5-10 big sites than 200+mini sites like some people on here.

This is very good advice. Another reason is Google is notorious for changing their algorithm like they did at the end of May beginning of June. A lot of people saw serious drops in their rankings.

What I have seen lately is that more competitive long chain keyword derivatives are harder for people with mini niche sites to rank for then they were before. Less competitive keywords don't seem as affected.

I had two that were moderately competitive and I lost half my monthly visitors after the algorithm change.

Don't take my word for it because it's mostly anecdotal evidence but it's what I've been seeing and hearing.

Too many sites will cost too many time and energy.

you cant really say 50 or 500 FAILING sites is better than 1-2 sites MAKING MONEY. what i thought is build a site. max the potential out of it then repeat. you dont want to earn 5$ a day on 50 sites when you can make that 5 on just 1 site that you can multiply to hundreds. that's my take anyway.

Yeah but the key is finding that successful template. You don't want to get stuck on one site trying to make it successful when it's just not going to happen. There is a time where you have to move on to the next.

For me I have been making sites some fail some make it and later on down the road I go back and see what mistakes I made and have learned from and redo the site to achieve better rankings.

Rinse and repeat is good when you find a working method and even then Google likes to come by and slap you down because they want to think that they are the gods of searches.

It depends upon how you are looking into situation or whats your target is... To some extent making mini sites is good option but they got limitations... You can't make thousands of them and keep making new... Just by making site doesn't guarantee you ranking or visitors in search engines and without that no point in making them....

If we take few sites and scale it to big level, I am not talking about site with few hundred pages or such... Why not make sites with thousands and millions of pages LOL i know it will take time and money but in the end it will be easier to run and manage it then managing thousands of sites... Why not make sites like ezine or goarticles rather then million small sites....

I use to make mini sites but it was very tough... Now I am making 3 sites with long term planning and expecting them to be in good position in coming months... I do have other sites from CPA to adsense but my main sites are doing better then others...

It's just my experience and thought, others may not agree with it... I will say decide on your own what you want and how you want...
