Hey BHW, I've learned a lot from the past half year and successfully started raking a small but significant amount of income from IM. I've still got to scale up my projects at this point, but now I wish to focus on a project out also wish to apply some of the knowledge I've learned to help out a dear friend of mine.

She's a neuroscience and biology major on the brink of graduation at the same top American university as me, but creates 3-D prints of dolls and figurines on the side as a side hobby. Her creations are honestly the most ridiculously cute figurines I've ever seen, and she's hinted to me that she really wants to get into toy design as a career. I want to get her a little bit of recognition for her work, but I'm not sure how I can even begin to do it with the limited resources I have now. This would be a charity project since she's someone I REALLY want to succeed and reach her dreams, but I'm not sure where to even start. I've created a FB fan page for her deviantart alias, but I have no idea how to get her noticed as my entire personal focus so far has been on blackhat SEO and youtube + CPA. She's also really shy about coming into the open about her hobby, and I'm pretty sure she'd rather remain anonymous when it comes to the internet. Her LinkedIn is completely focused on her experience as a volunteer para-medic and lab worker, and doesn't mention her hobby at all.

The general layout of my plan so far is just basically "Manual bookmarks and comments -> Link blast social media pages -> Begin selling prototypes on Shapeways -> Find her a toy manufacturer in China to outsource to -> Build her eCommerce Store".

So right now I'm just wondering, does BHW has any experience in getting an individual some publicity? Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Don't go the fake route, trust me.

Have you heard of Pinterest? Etsy? The demographic there will be perfect to get in front of, I also advise her accepting some "Review Copy" gigs for select people, in exchange for their testimonial you can publish on her site(s). Successful business is about who you know after all & people will believe she's already up and running.
Consider Press Releases as well - along with Offline promotion in magazines/newspapers. She could get in touch with websites & stores in her niche to discuss product placement or promotion.

Human attraction eludes me... Anyway, considering you said that she would rather "remain anonymous when it comes to the Internet", you could possibly do some offline marketing and convince her to expose her hobby to other college students (make sure she's completely comfortable with this). Post fliers around the campus, talk about her hobby to random strangers, get a plane to write her name and hobby in the sky, do anything you want. Have her develop an illustrious local reputation, and then send her local audience to her website and Pinterest account (this way you'll already have an established fan base). Then you can blast Facebook pages and the Internet in general with links promoting her hobby. Then, and only then, will she realise her love for you, the white night of Nazareth. Now, go get 'em, tiger.

You laughed because you know it's true :). Anyway, good luck with helping your dear girlfriend out! Maybe you could post about your success (or failure) on BlackHatWorld later on to keep us updated.
