    hey,

    I dont post here much, but I am looking to work for my self. I have a part time job, and looking for an extra money to save for a second car or something.

    anyway, I though of this idea, and I am wondering, if I work for my self, and market the skills of someone else, can I take a percentage of the pay.

    for example, Tell the contractor, you will make 15 dollars an hour for 4 hours every three days....meanwhile the clients I send, get charged 25 bucks an hour, pocket the 10 bucks(me doing nothing but making sure they are doing their job) every hour and pay my contractor his cut(15 bucks). I worked before as a contractor in the niche, and made like 8 bucks and hour....so I aint cheating any one. I figure 20 of these clients and a couple of contractor could make some nice change every week. I handle payment and such.

    I will pay in cash (most of the "contractors" will be working for pocket money) and check.

    what do you guys think?

    I check craigslist, and I know for a fact that i can take over this market. I havnt googled some competition, but I really want to take a very aggressive offline approach, I have to very target specific for my idea to work.

    Sounds like it could work but you'd have to make sure they're doing their job properly and are producing for your clients otherwise you will come across some problems.

    Make sure your hiring process is thorough to eliminate a lot of people who would be a waste of time.

    Yeah, you could do that. Are you going to provide the liability insurance? If not, you will need to make sure each contractor has liability insurance and you are listed on the policy for work they do for you. You may need to be licensed in each municipality that you are working in. In effect, you are acting as a general contractor and you may need a state license as well. I could go on and on about the things you need to check for but I think I made my point.

    You would be better off just selling leads to the other contractors.

    less headache to just sell the leads. Your becoming the contractor in a way, collecting the money, keeping tabs etc. when something goes bad, your the one that everyone will seek out.

    ok it sounds easier to just shoot for leads. Now I just have to find willing contractors, and leads.

    I don't wish to be disparaging, but I'll point out two things;
    a) It doesn't appear from the way you've written your post that you're necessarily the right type of person to be running an agency or other business in the manner you've described. I suggest you'll get squashed pretty damn quickly. Again - nothing personal at all, just an observation.
    b) 'me doing nothing but making sure they're doing they're job' is invariably never as simple as it sounds. You'll be limited to between 8-12 people that you can effectively run under that model, and all the headaches WILL come to you.

    However, I think in broad terms you have the right idea - because I take the view that there are only two ways to make money; either as a wh*re or a pimp (i.e, selling your own time, or selling someone elses).
    So, I think you're sniffing in the right bushes, however, maybe you should keep walking along the trail a little before you stop and decide you've found the right bush to pee on.
