In the training videos the guy always selects BROAD match and bases his traffic calculations on broad match. We all know exact match provides the accurate search numbers, so why is this guy using broad? Is there any reason? In my newb days I used to use broad and it did nothing but eff me in the A. What is this guy doing?

Yeah, the reason is because the guy has no idea WTF he is talking about. Anybody with any experience whatsoever knows that for the organic traffic, you'll never get anywhere even close to the amount of traffic that "broad search" would suggest, and "exact match" really is the closest

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm surprised. The guys quality of SEO knowledge is about in line with his quality of product. Market Samurai really sucks and it can't do anything valuable that Traffic Travis can't do for FREE

Hmm... I just paid $97 and I am starting to figure the same. It's completely unrealistic and pointless to use broad match, and he comes up with some bullshit like in the distant future you will get clicks from random keywords that are a result of you ranking for the broad phrase but they will most likely be untargeted. I think I should have paid for traffic travis. Also what is that guy one of the 40 thieves or something, he unnerves me and looks like the Oompa Loompas from the newer Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film. His calculation of a keyword's commerciality by multiplying traffic by CPC is crude to say the least. Also why is this piece of crap in adobe air, it requires a sh*tload of RAM for what it does.

If it had some sort of way of bulk analysing mass amounts of keywords based on preset filters then it would be good, can it do this? By mass amounts I mean say 100,000 - 1 million keywords scraped from various software available here on BHW (paid).

If you really want a good research tool that you're going to pay for I think I would recommend SERP Attacks. I like it more than MS, If I wouldn't have already bought MS I would probably have just bought SERP Attacks even though I still find myself just using FireFox plugins for everything.

I think he was saying the the broad match over time will bring you more traffic if you
plan on building an authority site.. BUT for me broad match is a wast of time.

When you take into consideration the logic being presented by MS team, it does make sense. A new website would undoubtedly target traffic generated by exact match keyword. However, how much more traffic would it generate if the same website starts ranking for the same keyword, the keyword entered in phrase and the keyword or its synonyms or singular/plurals version entered (broad match)?

That is what authority sites do- they rank well not only for just a keyword but often for long tail keywords, synonyms etc. too. This was the idea behind using broad match as the default option in MS, which you can change anytime to exact if you prefer it that way.
