Hey guys I found some keywords that to my eyes look good and I've taken the plunge to go after them. I'm going after quite a few. But I don't want to go by my criteria alone so I took a snapshot of the competition of one of the keywords I'm after. I want to know if I have a good shot at ranking for it. I don't know if it makes a difference but I'll add that the keywords are longtail also.

I forgot to mention that competition's backlinks did not have anchor text associated with the keywords I'm targeting. The CPC is high, the exact match searches is high.

From a neutral point of view, this will be hard. Doesn't mean you can't do it, would love to see your thought out strategy of attacking this. Cheers

if you get your page to have the best on-site seo that you possible can have then you will not need any where near as many backlinks as they have. The only think that is going to be hard is competing with domain age and authority.

Have you made a new site to target them? if you are then you will need quite a lot of time patience and backlink quality but if you stick at it I am sure you will get on the first page.

    Good Luck :)

I guess I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board and do some more keyword research. I really thought if I targeted some longtails where the competition was not optimized for it(keyword in title/header/url/description) and didn't have backlinks for the page that included the specific keyword anchor text on them that I'd be golden. I see now how wrong I am.
