Can someone clarify the reality with these proxies, I tried maybe 15 different ones and not one worked for me. I tried ones from various recently posted threads. I am configuring the proxy in IE and certain it is correct.

So is it a matter of trying more and more ? Or do they put these proxies for limited time ? I mean I assume some of these are free aren't they ? I am in Europe, not sure if there are any restrictions with that too..

Ask your provider why are they not working, ask for a change of proxies.

If they are public, keep searching and keep trying.

Harvesting and checking can easily be automated and there is at least one good tool out there for doing this. There are also many great tools provided by BHW members. Its not uncommon for public ones to go out of service quickly and or just plain suck.

what hes doing is testing public proxies i think so here lies his problem.
as fast as 1 user scrapes a list of proxies and try to use them
10k other people also scraped the same proxies and did the same thing
this is why public scraped lists die so fast. if you want proxies for
browsing just get a private proxie
they range from 35cents in the proxie payed area

So I mean why is anyone putting up Free proxies in the first place ? I mean I thought they want these free proxies used ? Otherwise why post ? Or we are talking here about lists of proxies whose owner maybe even unaware of. i.e server misconfigurations ?

I am aware of the paid proxies, but I am also interested in those free ones that span up now and then, will really appreciate anyone to PM me if they know of an automated tool that validates these , as posted earlier above.
