Manually penalized for outbound links (after I had removed paid links) Ironic!

I used to do paid blogging. This was 2-3 years ago. I decided to start using my blogs for amazon affiliate sales, and I removed any paid links or spammy posts.

Then I had google re-index my site.

Now, a month after I removed all of the paid links, I get hit with a manual penalty for unnatural outbound links.

Either they're looking at a cached version of my site, or they're plum crazy. I told them that their claim was absurd and asked for a re-evaluation. There is not a single paid link on my site, It really boggles my mind.

they're going with the idea that hiding means you did something :)

if you removed all the links to your website at the same time it's bad because you're hiding and ofc they're looking at a cached version... you could play dumb and say that you have no idea about those links and disavow them but that means you won't be able to use those ever again

@ lmxftw - I think you've got it wrong... it's not inbound links that they're griping about. It's outbound links... they think I'm being paid to link to other sites (which I totally did in the past, and I just removed all of those links).

Fortunately, I don't rely on search engine results to get traffic on this site, but it would be nice to not be penalized in case I do pop up on the first page for something. Like you said... mindfuck.
