I'm about to launch a compilation-themed channel (lets say its about cats for better understanding), and I need some advice.

1.The videos in the compilations are not owned by me. Should I ask each and everyone's permission to use them (If I'm correct, this is the only legal way if I want to earn money from compilations)? Will it help if I get a few permissions (of the total lets say 10 videos i use in the comp)?
    2. If I make some changes to the original videos (e.g. invert them) will it make my compilations safe from copyright issues?

Do you have any additional advice? Thx in advance.

    1. You'll have to get permission from every single one of them. If any ONE of the original uploader decides to launch a copyright dispute, all earnings would go straight to them (or the network their partnered with).

    2. I doubt so. If say, your video goes viral and the OU sees it, you'll probably get a copyright strike, it's still worth a shot though. Remember, receiving ONE copyright strike = 0.00$ for you.

Getting into this niche is way harder than most people think.

Thanks for the answer. But I wonder how can all those medium size compilation channels manage than? I mean big channels like Failarmy have the resource to license videos from owners, but there are plenty of channels with 5-40k subs, and I doubt they individually ask and get persmissions for every single video they use in their comp. Or is it not that complicated to get a permission?
