Three years ago I registered on BHW, at that time I got a little knowledge on how to make money online, but that was nothing in comparison to what I know and do now. If not BHW I probably would go a different path and I am happy that I am my own boss and making good money.

Almost right after I registered here I opened up my first site, did my first investment of time and little money and was able to make my first earning of $700 for the first months. Right now I have a whole fleet of sites, some of them became pretty well known and my earning has few zeros to the right from my first earning in this business. I do not call myself expert, but during this 3 years I have worked with dozens of networks, dozens of sites and been into every kind of situations, had few publications about me and my sites so I would like to give back BHW and give FREE HELP and advice to those users who are already in Arbitrage business or just thinking to get into it and looking where to start.

This type of business becomes more popular this days, but for some reason topic is under the shadow and not being discussed widely so I think it would be a good idea if I can help users here sharing my experience and giving advice.

It's pretty good and interesting business.
You may start from simple wordpress site and few posts and lead it to a long term authority site that brings income!

Well, yes, you buy and sell traffic, but not only that you may have bunch of organic traffic and optimize your earning working with different business models. When I started I was only buying traffic, right now I have sites where I mix my traffic with organic and sites that have only organic. If you work on a long term, proper, website you will eventually have organic traffic coming. Site's that look like they were made just to put up lot's of ads will go down sooner or later and won't bring much income.

do you have more specific instruction that you can share...
    like step 1, niche selection, 2 - keyword research, 3- domain/hosting, 4-traffic source, etc...

    - First - you need to figure out on what model you want to built your business: CPM/CPC/CPA/PPV etc

    - Chose niche for your site.
I suggest to choose that niche that can really attract visitors and build your site around it - fashion, health, lifestyle etc. If you choose topic that is less likely to attract visitors (e.g. types of asphalt) there's big chance that you would struggle with networks as it would look suspicious if your site would get lots of traffic and they wouldn't want to advertise on your site. Just be realistic.

    - You need a website.
I suggest working with WordPress - it's easy to work with, free, many free themes, and got a lot of great plugins.
Try to choose theme that has very fast loading speed, as ads on the site will slow it down

    - Domain - I had few old domains when I started that belonged to me, but you want to buy aged domain from auction as if it's brand new it is also suspicious if you get lot's of users from day 1. There's plenty of auctions where you can buy aged domain pretty cheap.

    - Hosting - get a reliable hosting and I would also suggest to get a local server, if you're in US get one from US.
I moved from self managed hosting to managed hosting, it's more expensive, but it's much less headache.

    - There's plenty of traffic sources, you can get it from Facebook, Adwords, Ad & Native ad networks, or from companies that sell only traffic. There's also few sellers here, but I particularly had very bad experience working with them, but some people are able to monetize it.

Facebook & Adwords are probably the best traffic sources, but most expensive, depending on your business model and site you can monetize it pretty good. Ad Networks also have pretty expensive traffic, but more advertising options, native ads cheaper, but quality is somewhere in the middle. Companies that sell only traffic can be pretty dangerous, but they are the cheapest and there's companies that do have good quality traffic. I mix my traffic from different sources, but in 3 years my sites grown community and also have organic traffic flow.

    - SEO - if you doing long term site, I would suggest not to forget about SEO and do at least basic.
I did a pretty good SEO at the very beginning and it pays back.

I started with my site with 30 articles already.
I was buying articles here and scheduled them 1 article per day.
I was buying traffic for the first month without applying for networks, so I can get my stats up.
I manipulated my Alexa score for the first months so it would look more attractive
I put up banners and signed up with some NET30 networks starting month 2 and then rolled on.
I think it is better to run first months just to get ads before applying, but it is not necessary as there're some network that does not require manual approval.

Please let me know if you got more specific questions and I would be able to give more specific answers.

What is the biggest mistake that you have made these 3 years? Something that you wouldn't want me or someone else to do

Sorry I am a newbie about this. But without AdSense, what kind of alternative sites you were using in your site for monetizing your traffic? Some names would be great!

Adsense is definitely not the only one and not the best. It is a good service but because there's no possible communication and no account representative you never know what is going on.

It is hard to advice any particular company as I am not sure what type of business/ads you run, but huge list of the names here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/media-buying/642753-huge-list-traffic-sources.html

Most of the companies are still there and doing a good job!

I would have to look at your internal statistics in order to suggest something specific.
But what I can say, is that on CPM model the more banners/ad widgets you put on the site at the same time, the more you are able to make, as 1 visitor views few different companies at the same time, but I wouldn't suggest doing just this, as this will lower user experience. Even you get only low quality traffic it still has to look good and legit in order to sign up with good high paying companies. DFP is also great thing for ROI.

About the domain: Is the age more important than the name of it?

What themes would you recommend and had success with?

    What plugins do you use?

I was planning instagram ads as a way of traffic source. Do you have any experience with IG ads? Or Pinterest Ads?

You want to use an aged domain if you plan to buy a lot of traffic from day 1, it would look more realistic.
When I started I had my domain for a long time before used for different sites

Try to choose theme that has fast load. I had a problem at the beginning when the theme I chose was very cool looking, but because of all the features it had and were visually nice it was loading 20+ seconds

I use plugins to repost my articles automatically to my social networks, clear cache, sitemap and plugin for better search.

I do not use Pinterest ads or IG, but I use this social networks for reposting, Pinterest has a great traffic flow as my audience is mostly women.
