I would say it depends on your skills. If you are good at web design I would recomend that. People love to meet face to face to discuss there website projects. IT is good also, but i dont think a physical store front is required as much. Btw, what country are you in?

i live in asia! :)

Good luck, but don't get into hosting, if physically placing the servers in the shop is on your mind. You would need to have a decent Internet connection, physical security, cooling, UPS and backup generators, and lots more things to be able to run a hosting business successfully. As far as I know, Internet speeds in Asia are not what you would call "excellent" and you would probably not be able to provide all the other things I mentioned without spending a fortune (Building a decent datacenter costs $100,000 upwards). If you're getting into the hosting thing, buy a server and check out any colocation deals at nearby datacenters.

I saw some thread here about creating a cpa email submit as the homepage of your pc.. then most likely people will complete the submits..

i'm planing to quit web hosting because its too competitive. can you suggest me some other IT related services i can offer in my shop. :)

One word Consulting, offer consulting services.. How? easy prepare some services relateds to the internet like fb fan pages creation, web design etc. Go online and design + print a nice amount of brochures or similar stuff. make someone hand the info to every customer going to the shop. You wait in your corner, wear smart clothing and make it look as if you are busy, etc..
Offer something like a free 5 minutes interview with our local shop web designer or webmaster etc FREE of charge, people thinking about web projects etc willl obviously take the frebie since they are already there I guess. Maybe you will need something like a waiting room if lots of people get interested but same as with any service not everybody loves the web hehe

dig here for more offline methods etc and escalate the whole thing, make sure to have a portfolio of previous works to show, think outside the box and of course offer an easy way to pay you.

blah blah the rest is obvious I guess.

there is nothing wrong with offering web hosting, If you can do a bit of web design then sign up as a reseller for xx per month, built a website for a client and through in 6 months free hosting or one year hosting, then after the year charge x per month. It all soon adds up.
Also think about virus removal, windows reinstalls etc.

I guess you need employees who really do have a background in IT.

it is very hard to get shop and now you got it for free.I would never keep online business there,i would do some research and keep some other offline business. There will be no link between each other.

In your shop window offer a fixed price website in a box.
Fixed Price: they get a domain (if available)
1 years hosting. Site set up...a choice of designs and Layouts. You can reg all this up through your affiliates...Including Domain and 1/2 hours work you can give them a basic website that costs you $10.... Once they are in you will get them back next year for renewals and upgrades and of course you are building your lists with these new customers all the time
