I have a product from an affiliate company I've just got a (sort of) EMD on, looking to build an affiliate site devoted to this product. Is it OK to use some of their images on my site? I know this is normally a no no, but I figure since I'm selling their product...ya know?

Any tips on this? Or keep it straight and use images from free stock photo sites? Less enticing, but safer?

By the way, I'm using elements of their images...not just download-and-put-up...ie, taking the image of a person and incorporating it into mine.

Why don't you ask them? Quick answer is NO! as you would be infringing on copyright.

Go to the source, they usually have all kinds of things that will help you.

You can't make it OK, unless you expressly asking them for it, otherwise - as people have said, it would be copyright infringement, regardless of whether or not you change the original image.

If it's your average trashy CB lookalike site, they probably won't give a damn, and are FAR less likely to ever push for copyright infringement (in fact, chances are, they've probably ripped them from somewhere else).

If it's a respected brand, or even a relatively well managed affiliate program, then it's a definite no no until you get permission.

Being an affiliate you can use the image of products for sales promotion, that would be ok but using the copying an image or creating a replica of your affiliate website would be offensive and subjected to copyrights. However you can always ask their permission for copying the images and continue your affiliate program without any risk.
